ASAP skincare, Platinum Collection

This will be the first time to try an Australian made and owned, cruelty free brand ASAP.

To make sure I cover the most of the range, the ‘essentials’, I got the Platinum collection that contains the following:

  • 1 x super A+ serum 15ml (1% Retinol)
  • 1 x super B complex 15ml
  • 1 x super C serum 15ml (20% L-Ascorbic Acid)
  • 1 x radiance serum 15ml
  • 1 x ultimate hydration 30ml
  • 1 x anti-ageing night cream 30ml

Will post the feedback on each (as I write this post the brand is not listed on BH reviewed list of products).

My concerns are pigmentation (melasma) and prevention of wrinkles creeping up, as I am that “critical” age , when one turns 40 in no time =)

Also, I am virgin in things containing high amount of actives like those in the collection (never used vitA and C and B3, AHAs in high amounts…), and so far used only natural based skincare. So be patient, and I hope I do not burn the face off!

The ingredients will be posted and all the details below of the products (as they can not be found online at all).

I’ve been using the Super B complex for years. Went off it for a bit recently and my skin was so bad! Back to the B and my bumps and acne cleared up within three days. I don’t know how or why it works so well but it is seriously good stuff for my skin!
The Vitamin C one didn’t work so well. Wish I could like it but it never did much for my skin for the price it is.

I just wanted to thank you for your detailed posts about the ASAP range! I have very dry skin, and found this thread while searching for info on the Super B Complex serum. It sounds like it’s the right product for me, so I’m going to go ahead and buy it!

I hope your skin is looking amazing 🙂

Very interesting article Preciousia shared with me. After looking at the ASAP VitC formula (you can see above pics for the ingredients), she did point out that serums with vitC come water and non-water based. Non water based (Anhydrous) are more stable, and there is much less degradation of this reactive ingredient.

“This is an important advantage, even compared to some stabilized water-based vitamin C formulas, which may store well but still oxidize quickly on the skin surface. Furthermore, anhydrous vitamin C tends to be less irritating than regular ascorbic acid products “…

    http://www.smartskincare.com/treatments/topical/anhydrous_vitc_combo.html

“… evidence indicates that ultrafine microcrystalline vitamin C in an anhydrous vehicle can stimulate collagen synthesis.”

Super C serum: tried to use it on the dry skin: balling off effect! No good!

Second time I popped it on together with water based SuperB serum: dotted the face with VitB, then VitC serum right next to each other. So instead of mixing them on the back of the hand and wasting products (as per instructions on the product VitC packaging), I mixed them straight on my face. So those dots I just slathered all over my face as you would do any cream.

Perfect! No balling up effect, and the whole thing soaked in without the trace! Ok, left skin slightly glowing and hydrated(probably due to the VitB serum).

I will also try to apply as Preciousia does: if used solo, I will pop it on on my damp face. Then the day cream over.

Yohanna glad that it`s not balling up anymore!

      🙂

I enjoy reading your asap report.

        Thanks skincare junkie =)

I did go very near the eyes with the serums (retinol and radiance exfoliating one), so under eye area is having a slight surface flaking …no irritation though, at all, or dryness.

Must be careful, and not get carried away! Eye area is thinner as we know, and as a first time user of strong actives, I think it is a no no to slather them around the eyes lol

    OK

Been using the pack for the 3rd day today. First impressions: love it!!!

The whole range of products inside is unscented. SO the scent you get is from the ingredients themselves that are subtle and soooooooooooooo nice! VitC smells like oranges, one of the smells like lollies, one like fresh herbs (refreshing, not earthy scent), one cream is neutral, no scent at all…

VitA: Even though it has 1% retinol, and I have never used this stuff before, my skin loved it! Felt nothing…skin glowing in the morning!

Radiance Serum: had acids to exfoliate…etc…used on another night (to alternate with VitA as instructed) , face glowing! No reaction, heat or burn (that I sort of expected, due to my sensitive skin and being still ‘raw’ from NI range damage)

Vitamin B: yup, hydration boost for sure! I use only the ASAP day cream over, and all day my skin is plumped

Night cream seems not to be too much for the actives I already use under it (and for the first time, and high strength, like retinol 1%), it also has exfoliating acids…but, in the morning: glowing face! Smooth and silky now!

The only product added to this routine I use is Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil and ForeoLuna2 , to massage all the stuff in.

So far I am quite amazed, as being the ‘virgin’ in something more serious in my skincare than mild natural based creams/oils.

Cosmeceutical stuff like ASAP will definitely be a part of my skincare routine from now on!

Oh, dry skin patches are gone (that I got after using NI range), bumps being ‘ironed’, redness not here any more…yay! oh, and most importantly, tight face feel and dehydrated (something in NI ‘burned’ my top layer, that was tight on pull, going crepey, was papery dry) skin no more!

With Super A+ serum, great care needs to be taken for sure. It has “professional” strength of 1% Retinol. It is known when this stuff is used in no matter what skin care brand it is included, other stuff used in the ‘beauty routine’ must be taken in consideration. Ok, as Preciousia mentioned, SPF crucial (physical), then also anything used on top of the serum and before the serum.

I will NOT use any toners, facial cleansers unless they are pure oil based or butter based (no foaming ones, NO scrubs, no added products with harsh ingredients like BHA AHAs, as this pack already contains combination of everything ). SO any irritating thing extra WILL cause irritation for sure (even 2% BHA dried the heck of my skin in past! And only 5% of AHA for 4 days of use burned my skin, i looked like a beetroot!, not even considering the fact that my skin is sensitive, older and never been exposed to potent stuff like this 1% retinol!

So taking it easy for sure. Once per week …

True pigmentation removal comes with the renewal of skin.

depending on the depth of the pigmentation, it may take many cycles.
or perhaps many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many cycles

i think you get the point…

    how long is a cycle?
omg… that depends on age. For our ages. about 6 weeks. YMMV

    • Babies – 14 days
    • Teenagers – 21 – 28 days
    • Middle age – 28 – 42 days
    • 50 and up – 42 – 84 days

And pigmentation i have mentined, based on research has to be targetted at many different levels, there is no 1 active to do the job. I refer to the pigmentation thread and this posts http://loveneedwant.wixsite.com/blog/single-post/2016/05/18/5-Essential-Ingredients-to-tackle-Pigmentation

ASAP pack is great.. covers the 5 essentials, the 1st Tyrosinase Inhibitors is weak but may suffice. So i emphasise point 5 again.

    😛 xxx good luck!

YAY! What would I do without you preciousia!

lol…I do get the point. Still not sure I will be able to use sunscreen in the house. I hate the stuff in any shape and form….just can not stand it, and use only in emergencies (like when out in the mid day sun) .

Yes, I remember Miss Margaret your experience with the serums! And the retinol level is just high and is of “”professional”” strength in this serum! `Virgins` like me are recommended to start with less than 0.5%, and not daily.

I will use Serum A+ once per week only, and perhaps with vitB, as it can be soothing, hydrating at the same time. Will see and post details later on

I am using up super A. I do not really like it but it was expensive so I am using up. It is a very irratating form of retinol. It took about 6 weeks to get used to it. I still only use every 2nd night as it is too much for my skin. My derm sells ASAP and she does not recommend the Super A as a retinol as many people find it too irratating. She said not to use more than every second night. She has been using retinol/retinoids and some really powerful stuff for over 10years and her skin does not like the super A either so just be cautious.

I have used the super B and I really liked it but it was onlly a little 15ml bottle so I can’t say if it really made a huge effect on the pigmentation.

Oh, I have designated only ONE drawer for the `beauty` stuff. If it starts to get full, I freak out hehe…remember though, I still have 5 Maslow boxes to arrive, full of all things beauty! So NO shopping, until I run out of things .

Lucky you preciousia, at least you have found The One in more important department!♥

Problem with HGs in my world of “”wanna try it all”” things, even when I find a thing that I like, I always want to try another…then another….it never ends! lol (I blame BH and you guys hahahha =P)

  • 7 yrs, 7 mths ago

Will see what my skin likes….then will hunt bargains for those lol

No worries, will get them cheap as I usually do ! Sales come and go all the time, so I do not bother rushing into anything. First finishing with one series of products, taking a break, then start again….is my policy. No more accumulation hehe…my “”beauty”” designed drawer is almost full now of body/skin/hair stuff)
