Studying abroad

So I’m in the middle of applying to do my last semester of uni in the USA. just wondering if anyone has done this and can tell me how they found the transition? on one hand it is an amazing experience but on the other hand im so settled in studying and living where i am now that i think it maybe a big step!

if you studied abroad,
how different is the studying?
how on earth did you limit yourself to living out of a suitcase for 5months?
and did you have enough time/money to explore in your days off (sight see)

hi Sezaluke, my daughter wants to study abroad can i ask how you applied and through which channels ? and also how much it costs thankyou so much,

You would apply through uni and the cost of living would greatly depend on the country you’re going to.

I’m going to Cortland New York
you apply through your uni, they should have a partnership office. uni fees are paid thru ur home uni, so easy still can be on fee help (hex) but overseas all up i have an estimation of $9,000 thats rent, food, insurance etc not flights

Friend of mine went to Uni last year in Washington State.
Course it was a boy so he didn’t take advantage of the shopping like we would.
He had time to socialise but also did heaps of study. He also bought a cheap push bike to get around the campus on.
Everything he needed he purchased over there at ridiculously cheap prices!!!
    Have a great time!!!

    Where in the USA?
If you are concerned about not having enough stuff then you can ship your stuff out or have someone do it for you. If you’re staying in a dormitory you won’t have much space and many times you will be sharing a room and there are meal plans available at most campuses. Do you plan on doing lots of tourist type activities? Those get expensive quick. But day to day small trips and activities can be pretty reasonable. Travelling will be a bit different, do you plan on driving? If you are a social girl then you will have no trouble meeting people but, if you are shy then it may be slow going.

Hi Sezaluke, one tip – pack light because the shopping there is amazing!! Really cheap and nice stuff. Go to the factory outlets and malls. If you are there Jun/Jul there are so many semi-annual sales there. My tip is to really just take essential clothes and stock up when you get there. Maybe buy extra luggage for when you come home – you will need it!!

If you are living on a college campus and have your meals sorted at the campus dining hall, then you really won’t need much and besides, anything you need can be bought cheaply at Wal Mart! Which univ. are you going to?
