Hair colorist Brisbane (northside or CBD preferred)

Can ladies from the brisbane area recommend a decently priced hair Colorist? I recently got my hair done at a well-raved about salon, however I was extremely disappointed with my cut and colour. $350 dollars later I walked out with my hair slightly thinned out and with a warm black hair colour. I wanted a cool toned light brown, however the hairdresser insisted that it would not suit me, it would take hours and it would cost me too much money to lift/take off brassyness from my orangey/brown hair. I’m a fairly introverted/timid person so I let her talk me in to getting it to a black colour (damn my introverted/pushover nature grr!). However I was really disappointed with the cost being $350 for something I could’ve done at home.

Can someone please PLEASE recommend me a decent hair colorist that won’t cost an arm and a leg, and will actually listen to what I say.

Thanks Ladies!

I could recommend mine however my hair costs an arm and a leg (but then I have very long hair, typically get half a head of foils and dye in between). With all that work, it should cost an arm and a leg and take forever to do. At my last appointment, my hairdresser suggested an alternative way of doing my hair that would achieve the same results for less time and less money. I am yet to do this however I will be discussing it at my next appointment (which is coming up in about a week). So, if you are still in the market, and need somewhere central to Brisbane (I’m talking Newstead / Teneriffe), let me know.

I agree with you, I’m fine with paying a high rate if they are willing to give me the colour that I want.

Newstead/Tenerife? I hope it’s not the one I went to. The salon I went to was at Gasworks and had a lot of great reviews.

Nope. Not at Gasworks. Go to RAW Colour & Style. It’s on Commercial Road. Tell Channy or Sia their loudest, mouthiest customer (who gives customers pick up lines and tells Jenna how to stretch behind the basins) referred you. I can’t remember the owner’s name. Brain fart!

Try Essential Glamour in Mt.Gravatt. Pia is AMAZING!!!! Everytime I go I am pampered and always feel amazballs. I recently just went from long black hair to short blonde and it cost $260 for Cut+2 bleaches+toner+treatment+blowdry.
I cannot recommend her enough. And if you mention Bella from BeautyandtheBronzer she will look after you.

    Xx

Myself & everyone I know with amazing hair around me goes to Kidmans Hair Studios in Redcliffe on the Northside. Amazing knowledgeable staff who don’t rip you off! They have packages available and have never heard of anything like the prices you’ve mentioned haha I would have fainted too. They have an instagram/fb/website as well if you wanted to check out their work 🙂

Thank you so much i’ll check them out!!!

If you are willing to travel to the Gold Coast I can highly recommend my hairdresser, her name is Tanya and she works at a salon called La Sainte, it’s in two locations, Robina Town Centre and Surfers Paradise (at the base of the Hilton Hotel, right near Cavill Mall). She is manager of the Surfers one. I trust her with my life, she has so much knowledge and she will never do something that makes you uncomfortable or unhappy. She was there for me after a major hair disaster and has made me feel great about my hair every step of the way.
They’re not cheap but they have a lot of deals and promos, you can often get half price cut or colour 🙂

Thanks Catn2kittens do you know if they’re around the $300+ price range when it comes to colour?

*Marnie144*, I live a sheltered life because I have never heard of a cut and colour costing $350! I’m also extremely scared to speak up, but in this instance, I would somehow force myself to go back to the salon and tell them how unhappy I was. There must be something they can do to fix your hair. For $350, I would expect my hair to look like it was in a Pantene commercial.

If you ever see a woman with a fabulous cut and colour, compliment her and ask her where she gets her hair done. I did a Google search for best hairdressers in Brisbane, and I found two sources:

    http://www.theurbanlist.com/brisbane/a-list/brisbanes-best-hairdressers

    http://www.womo.com.au/search/Hairdressers-near-Brisbane-QLD-4000/R0051001

I know! I almost had a heartattack when I heard the price! But I’m not one to complain although I wish I had the guts at the time. I feel she was just too lazy to spend time on my hair. Perhaps I should go back and complain however I’m worried they’ll butcher my hair even more.
The hair salon I went to is actually on that urban list link under the “hair colorist” category.
Thanks I’ll ask others, but one of my friends said that the fact that my hair is now warm black will make it even more difficult to lift my hair to the colour I originally wanted.
