Hi, was wondering if anyone has tried ear candling. What was experience like? and did it help?
i have tried it, a bit scary i must admit but apparently its natural but smells like poo
What????wait a minute!!! It smells like poo???? (Oh no...I just bought a kit and was going to do it this week)
i have heard of this but was too worried because i have heard its not good but at the same time i hear good things form people who's tried it.i am a but split about this.i also saw in Oprah the netti pot thing.just don't know where to get it from.does any of you know.my nose needs a good clean up as gross as it sounds.
I actually practice ear candling and have had some pretty amazing results.
I only use Hopi Ear Candles-they are approved for use in German hospitals and the research behind them is quite good.
Most of those articles bagging ear candling on the web are based around 'cones', which not many people actually use.
I also use a Neti pot. Once you get used to the strange sensation, it's fine :)
Wait what is ear candling? sounds a bit Shrek-like...
well this is new to me .. ear candling !
I was interested in this for my daughter but i read an article in the readers digest health magazine and will NEVER try it, it can really do some irreversible damage.
I had mine done while i was on holidays in Scotland as my ears were killing me upon lading on the plane. I had no problems on the way back so it def helped me. They got quite a bit out of mine and I am totally keen to go back! I thought about doing it myself but after hearing a friend say she knew someone who did it herself and wax went in her ear and now she cant hear, I am not so keen. Will leave it to the salon thankyou!
I am so glad to have stumbled across this thread! I've been wanting to try ear candling for ages just to clean out my ears but I hadn't even thought of the sinus-clearing possibilities and if it can actually reduce circles under my eyes then I'm definitely going to give it a go. I think I'll definitely get a professional to do it though.
Tops info girls, thanks for all your wisdom.
I love ear candling. It's so relaxing and it doesn't smell bad at all. I do think though that you need someone to help you do it as it's a bit tricky by yourself. My ears feel so much better afterwards and my head feels clearer as well!
i'll leave it to my doctor, i'd give myself an ear infection
sounds great but what is the porcess of actually doing ear-cadenling
They prety much stick a special candle in your ear and light the end of it.
Google it and you'll come up with some good articles that support it and others that simply shoot it down. This is one of those things where you either believe it or you don't.
i really want to try this, but i'm scared.
It's nothing to be scared of. It's actually really relaxing I find. As long as you have someone to help you.
i have heard that most of the stuff that comes out of your ear is actually just run off from the candles???? i would leave it to the doctor! you can buy some ear drops to soften the waxbut if that doesn't work get the doc to "syringe" your ear. Not as scary as it sounds - they basically blast the wax out with a massive squirt of water!
Yes i agree to a point, i think the wax comes out, from heat and the your little muscles in your ears that draws the wax to outer ear. We use the Bodyzest Australia ear candles they seem to work the best, they are a low wax candle with a good filter, you can find them at http://www.bodyzest.com.au/ hope this helps!!
Ladies read this!: http://www.cbc.ca/consumers/market/files/health/earcandle/index.html
"Many of the proponents, they cut open the candle and they show you this incredible amount of wax. What they don't show you is that if you don't put it into the ear, and you still light it on fire and you open it up, it looks the exact same.
"All the junk that's in the candle is simply the beeswax and the residue," says Fox. "It's not human ear wax."
Being science nerds my fiancé and I experimented with this. The gunk in the candle is candle wax. The warmth might soften the wax in your ears slightly but it doesn't draw it out - better results can be had with waxsol drops and something like audiclean.
OOhhhh i love ear candling. I have a heap of them at home that i bought through a supplier. i often do my own, not as easy as someone else doing it but i find it really helps. it is recommended that you do it every day for 7 days initially and then once a week. i did mine 3 days in a row once and was like, yeah there's nothing else and i felt great, my black eye circles weren't as dark and my sinuses were really clear.
that is why they say 7 days, because it's not just for cleaning out your ears, it rebalances everything else up there too.
Would you mind private messaging me and describing your ear candling experience further. I'm doing research for a documentary reality series that is looking to explore ear candling.
I mentioned it in passing to my Dr last visit and was sternly warned never to do it again. Ahh well, more money for other spa treatments!
I also received in my bundle of the the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum which i was certainly excited to try out.
My hairdresser raved to me about the affordability of the Eleven range! I bought the Keep my Colour Shampoo and the Keep my Colour Blonde treatment after I got highlights.
I have used the previous version of this Youth Activating Serum a few years ago, for about one year. I remembered that it was very lightweight and helped in hydrated my skin.
