Shimmer Eyeshadow Palettes

Hi! I’m a beginner and recently bought the ChiChi Bronzes Palette and there are only 2 mattes, the rest are shimmer. When doing my crease, should I be using matte or shimmer, with the lid being shimmer?? I’ve found it difficult to do the whole eye look using shimmer, or is this just because I need more practice? 🙂

I’d say use a matte in your crease, and shimmer for your lid!

If you’re comfortable with it upload a photo of your eyes and we could give more specific advice but also check out YouTube tutorials as you can find something for all eye shapes and issues.

I’ve never been able to wear shimmer on my brow bone, even though I may have but shouldn’t have years ago, as I have a fairly pronounced brow bone so shimmer makes it appear even more pronounced which is not a good look. Otherwise I can still wear shimmer on my lid and even in my crease, because my eyes are fairly deep set I actually have to avoid going too dark which makes my eyes look way too deep set and small but shimmer isn’t an issue. Having said that I usually start with a mid-tone matte in my crease and go from there as I find a bit of shimmer will build up better over a matte base and stay in place better.

I’m 51 & the older I get, the more I have to be careful about what to put on my crease. I can only wear matte at the crease, but I can wear shimmer on my lids & brow bone. If you’re younger, you could use shimmer all over if you choose.

    Hey, upload an avatar Charizze!

    Hey Charizze!

Ideally you should use a mid-tone matte in your crease, a darker matte on the outer corner and a shimmer on the lid is perfectly fine! 🙂 You can also use either a light shimmer or matte to highlight under the arch of your brow and in the inner corner of your eyes.

Just make sure you’re using the correct tools (blending brushes are a must – BLEND BLEND BLEND!) and a good quality eye primer.

You can also search up how to apply eyeshadow and there are lots of useful tutorials on Youtube for beginners! That`s how I learned how to do eyeshadow many years ago. Takes lots of practice before you can perfect it. Have fun experimenting!
