For myself, I’ve really paid attention to what flushes me, which is caffeine, alcohol and spicy foods (are my biggest culprits). Also if I’m emotional (angry or upset or embarrassed) I get extra red and have patches of rashes.
I’ve seen every doctor under the sun as my rosacea is coupled with sensitive skin and acne. I’m currently on roaccutane and the redness has subsided a lot.
My biggest red areas is in my cheeks / t-zone area. It almost feels like what I think a hot flash would be I can feel the temperature come on and then sure enough I’m bright red.
Makeup wise I haven’t ever found a green corrector that works on my skin being fair + red the green doesn’t really help.
I’d recommend going in store and getting some testers so you are properly colour matched and saves you buying the wrong item over and over. Although, pricer id also suggest going to Mecca and getting some samples from there. My favourite is Benefit’s be happy range and Hourglass their dry/wet foundation. It matches my skin perfectly without being too dark (an issue with being fair and red is trying to cover but not cover too dark). Third favourite when wanting a bit more coverage is Estée Lauder but again, recommend testing a few different colours to find the right one.
My routine if wanting to hide red is
– primer or moisturiser
-liquid foundation
– wait to try and then powder
-then setting spray
