Rosacea Make Up Products

Because I suffer from rosacea my face constantly looks red even when not flared up so I was wondering if any other sufferers out there could recommend me some affordable make up brands to replace my current ones?

I’m on the pension so can’t be spending hundreds of dollars on it.

What make up brands do you wear?

I mean do you use primer or moisturiser before foundation?

Do you use concealer?

Do you use powder over the foundation and concealer?

Do you use a make up setting spray?

Thank you

I have been super impressed by It Cosmetics C++ cream – its not super cheap, but imho worth it as it really helps with my redness, and doesn’t irritate my skin and make it worse – hope that helps 🙂

For myself, I’ve really paid attention to what flushes me, which is caffeine, alcohol and spicy foods (are my biggest culprits). Also if I’m emotional (angry or upset or embarrassed) I get extra red and have patches of rashes.

I’ve seen every doctor under the sun as my rosacea is coupled with sensitive skin and acne. I’m currently on roaccutane and the redness has subsided a lot.

My biggest red areas is in my cheeks / t-zone area. It almost feels like what I think a hot flash would be I can feel the temperature come on and then sure enough I’m bright red.

Makeup wise I haven’t ever found a green corrector that works on my skin being fair + red the green doesn’t really help.

I’d recommend going in store and getting some testers so you are properly colour matched and saves you buying the wrong item over and over. Although, pricer id also suggest going to Mecca and getting some samples from there. My favourite is Benefit’s be happy range and Hourglass their dry/wet foundation. It matches my skin perfectly without being too dark (an issue with being fair and red is trying to cover but not cover too dark). Third favourite when wanting a bit more coverage is Estée Lauder but again, recommend testing a few different colours to find the right one.

My routine if wanting to hide red is
    – primer or moisturiser
    -liquid foundation
    – wait to try and then powder
    -then setting spray

I have a friend who suffers from this, it must be very frustrating for those who have it.

    Hi, Andrea!

My mum’s got rosacea on both cheeks & her forehead. She says that sometimes her cheeks hurt so badly, it feels like they’re bleeding. She buys Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear in bulk when it’s on sale. She doesn’t just wear it as sunscreen or makeup – she sits dabbing it on at NIGHT when she watches TV! She reckons it takes the sting out of her cheeks better than the expensive prescription-only cream she used to use.

It’s listed on Bh here: beautyheaven.com.au/makeup/foundation-primer/29098-invisible-zinc-tinted-daywear-anti-ageing-facial-moisturising-sunscreen-spf-30-

I have rosacea to a minor degree (a red patch the size of a 10 cent coin on each cheek). The foundation I’m currently using is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless and I find that this does a pretty decent job at covering up the redness when it flares up. I use a pretty basic primer also and I haven’t experimented with them personally but perhaps colour correcting primers and concealers might be something to look into.
When not wearing makeup, I find that sticking to a good skincare routine (for me its cleansing, toning, moisturizing and occasionally exfoliating) helps keep the redness down.

Number one thing to do is to get a referral to see a Dermatologist. You need a dose of Roaccutane. That’s the only thing that cleared mine up after 10 years of “cures” including giving up meat.
Next you will need to visit a really good Pharmacy that hires a Makeup Artist or similar to recommend a green based foundation to reduce the redness. They may even apply it so you can see how well it works for you.
