Pale olive skin foundation

Girls with pale olive skin, I need your help!
I have been looking for a foundation for too long!
I have very light skin especially for someone with olive skin. My skin is oily and very sensitive to makeup products so I get acne easily.

I have been on a lookout for a good everyday foundation or a B.B. cream that doesn’t make me look yellow or grey and so far no luck…
I recently tried tarte fair neutral that I was matched with by a Sephora employee and the fairness was good and I got compliments that my skin looks more lively…however I could still see that it’s a bit too yellow.

I also tried Revlon in Buff and the colour matched me well, but it broke me out so I haven’t repurchased.

Any ideas?

Thank you all in advance!

I use the nude BB cream by Garnier, I blend it in with the Nude by Nature BB cream and some sunscreen, it works well for my light olive skin tone.

It is one of the most important products in your makeup collection. If you have pale olive skin, it’s important to choose a foundation that will even out your skin tone and give you a natural-looking finish. We recommend choosing a foundation with medium coverage. This will allow you to build up the coverage if you need it without looking like you’re wearing a mask.

You may want to look into Korean BB Creams. They’re cool toned but not always pink leaning. I have one from Touch In Sol that is light and cool olive. It’s the In The Skin Renovation one, also good for oily skin.

Not sure if Priceline still sells it though.

I did a quick Google search, and I found these suggestions for an olive undertone:

Light olive-tone skin foundations? from MakeupAddiction

If you do a Google search, you will probably find more product suggestions.

It might be easier for you to use duality‘s brilliant idea of using a blue mixer with your foundation.

Light olive is so hard to match! When I was younger I could only get well matched foundation in Europe, but it seems to be getting more widely available nowadays.

Have you tried the Fenty foundation? They have a great light olive (#190) and is well suited to dry skin. Otherwise NARS has a few light olive shades (especially good concealer shades). Maybelline Dewy and Smooth has a good shade in 225, medium buff, I wear this in summer and it is my favourite foundation atm. I don’t know if this would be good for oily skin but the finish is beautiful and it’s cheap so it’s worth a try (especially if you’re happy to set your primer/skin with a setting spray before going in with foundation, this should help with the oiliness)

For a BB cream I really like the Bourjois Healthy Mix BB cream, although there is a very narrow range of colours (light, medium and dark, I vary between all three depending on season) the undertone really works for me. Usually BB creams look too orange or pink but this is perfect for my skin.

    Good luck 🙂

Thank you for all the suggestions! I’ll take a look at the ingredients and might try out the B.B. cream! I’m scared of the cheaper foundations however as they make me get acne so easily even with my extensive skincare routine

I’d suggest you buy the LA Girl foundation mixer in blue and add it to any pale golden foundation. The blue will mix with the yellow and create a pale green tone which is what olive is on the pale spectrum.

Several Aussie online stockists have it, GlamRaider is one from memory but I think Cosmetic Capital too. Add a tiny bit and mix on a slab until you get perfect blend. Has a pump dispenser and doesn’t affect your foundation finish at all.

      Thank you for the suggestion!
I’m a bit worried that all the dimethicone will break me out, but I might give it a try anyway!

      • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

It’s main ingredient is water and you use the tiniest drop of it so you’d get pretty negligible amounts of dimethicone. I have the white and it doesn’t feel like dimethicone at all, just watery.

    Hi, Maria Olive skin!

I tend to oiliness & blemishes but I’ve got a very cool fair complexion. Have you ever tried mineral powder foundation? I find that even if the colour is a little off at first, it blends well & becomes more natural-looking. I like Nude by Nature because it’s made in Australia. The colour starts out a little too warm, but blends in to look like I’m not wearing makeup. Physicians Formula is probably better in quality, but I prefer to buy Australian, so I switched to NbN.

If I’ve got a zit, the mineral powder covers it better than liquid foundation. Most importantly, it doesn’t MAKE me break out in the first place!

    Good luck!

Hm I’m currently using the lightest shade in nude by nature. I use their bb cream and cover it with mineral foundation.
It works well with covering blemishes and doesn’t make me break out which is great. The colour isn’t too bad either.

But I feel that my skin is so oily it seems to all come off by the end of the day so I’m not too happy with the coverage.

Colour wise it’s not bad as I mentioned, but i don’t feel that it enhances my skin tone much. When I use tarte it seemed to make me more glowing and healthy looking (but was a bit too yellow) and that’s what I’m looking for in a foundation.

However for now I keep using my nude by nature products as they’re one of the few that don’t break me out and kind of match

I haven`t tried NbN BB cream & I`ve never used Tarte either. I hope you find something that works for you, Maria!
