Hardcore mattifying products

Hi Beauty lovers!

I’m about to get bangs/ fringe (whatever your preferred choice of wording is) soon but also, I have a very oily forehead.

To try and stop the inevitable mess this might cause, can I ask for your hardcore mattifying products.

I’m inclined to favour SPF’s and Primers but would be open to powders too.

As they will be covering my forehead, I don’t much fancy foundation as what’s the point, right?

Alternatively, any tips to handle bangs/fringe with oily skin would also be very welcome!

I forgot to recommend It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores pressed or loose powder. Mattifies skin without making it feel dry or chalky. Love it!

Dry shampoo is a lifesaver for an oily fringe. Just spray some on, musss it up and then brush out fringe. Bingo! Oily fringe fixed.

I have very dry skin so I can’t give you product recommendations. However, I watch lots of YouTube videos, and many of the women have oily skin. Maybe you could watch some videos by people with this issue. The first person that comes to my mind is an Australian woman called Nikia Joy. She’s started developing her own range of products; one of which is a setting powder that gets great reviews. She has a section called “oily skin videos”:

I also recommend a talented makeup artist on YouTube called Risa Does Makeup. Risa does lots of great videos for hooded eyes, glamorous makeup looks etc. She has oily skin. I vaguely recall her recommending blotting powders which might have been by MAC, but I’m not 100% sure about this. Anyway, here’s her channel:

Oh man I had found Nikia`s powder second hand and dallied around and I think it sold haha so mad now would have been a good option to try.

Thank you for your help 😀

I’ve never heard any hairdresser or Australian say bangs, we call it a fringe. The only time I’ve heard bangs used is in Amercian movies or American articles.

Bangs are loud noises! Americanisms make me cringe.

I’ve had a fringe for most of my life & my skin & hair is oily. I only use cleanser & toner on my forehead – plus the occasional sheet mask. I don’t apply sunscreen to my forehead unless I’m swimming: my wet hair leaves my forehead exposed, but it’s covered the rest of the time.

I rarely get zits on my forehead – I think my hair mops up the grease. When I grew out my fringe, I got forehead zits – that’s how I made the connection.

My fringe gets oily quicker than the rest of my hair. I usually shampoo every 2 or 3 days. If I’m in a rush, I’ll just shampoo my fringe at the handbasin, without conditioner. It dries quickly.

You might find this helpful, but I admit I haven’t tried it yet: Revlon Oil Absorbing Volcanic Roller

Must be a particular part of Australia because the only place I`ve heard it called bangs is on here and on tv (American shows).

The only place I`ve seen/heard the use of the word “”bangs”” is in some of beautyheaven`s articles. Maybe they use this word so that they appeal to readers from the US, or maybe the author is from the US.

I genuinely didn`t think this would be the topic of this post haha

Like I said – I personally use both interchangeably. Online I tend to use bangs due to the prevalence of American vernacular.
In person, I`ll bounce between the two.

Whichever word is favoured my original question still seems to make sense to everyone (☞゚∀゚)☞

Aha every hairdresser I`ve had in Australia and the vast majority of random people have called them bangs so ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I use them interchangeably but in most instances, bangs conveys it fine.

Thanks for the tips. I did see that Revlon roller but unfortunately the reviews were insanely poor, haven`t found a positive one yet.
