Cleaning beauty lenders / sponges

Hello everyone,

I’m currently having trouble to get my beauty blenders / sponges spotlessly clean. I used a makeup brush cleaner and manage to get most of it off but I am still left with foundation spots on the sponges 🙁 .

Same with my brushes. What other products or techniques do you recommend when cleaning these sponges?

Thank you kindly

I clean mine by putting them in a mug with water & a squirt of dishwashing soap, then microwaving it for 90 seconds. You can repeat if needed. Makes my sponges look brand new. Be careful when you squeeze them out though, I’ve burned myself so many times

I second the Daiso cleaner. It’s amazing! I got the beauty blender cleaner as a bundle with the sponge but it pales in comparison to the daiso cleaner. Plus the daiso cleaner is amazing to deep clean your brushes

I use baby shampoo and let it soak a little, it gets a lot of make-up out of the blender but still has slight stains after use

I use Dr Bronners pure castille soap and that works AMAZING for cleaning sponges and brushes- seriously the best stuff I have ever used and I am only left with a few small stains, as for brushes they honestly look brand new and after trying so many other soaps and brush shampoos this has cleaned the deepest! 🙂

A lot of people recommend Daiso’s Puff & Sponge Detergent for cleaning makeup sponges. It only costs $2.80, but it might be a little hard to find since it is such a cult product. I personally haven’t tried it, but it might be worth a go.

Cool thanks to everyone who had replied! I might try an oil based cleanser an a cheap soap bar to help……

I find glycerin based soaps are better for some reason, not sure why though.

I’ve also heard that the cheap brush cleansers stocked at daiso are pretty good as well!

    Hi MsLydia,

I heard someone on(I can’t remember her name sorry) Youtube saying they are using a cheap cleansing oil. The trick is that you clean them when they are dry, not wet. I’m going to get palmer’s cleansing oil and try it myself. I’m using Dr. Bronner’s shampoo which is not bad at all.

    Have a great day!

I an wondering if it is even possible to get them spotless because I have pink makeup remover towels and after two goes in the washer, they’re still brown and ugly looking.
