Best eyelid primer on a budget?

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a really good, yet affordable eyelid primer that I can use as a base for my eye shadow. I have a nude by nature one I got in a gift pack, but I prefer something that mattifies a bit when it sets. I have heard good things about the UD primer potion and the Too Faced shadow insurance primer, but I’m wondering if there are any cheaper options that achieve similar results? Thanks beauties 🙂 xx

Medusas Makeup eyelid primer is the way to go. It is 100% vegan and cruelty-free and you can purchase it online with afterpay from The Little Vegan Makeup Shop. I highly recommend this product as it is the one I use and I am in love with it.

I have a super cheap one from Australis which is great but it could be discontinued by now. Another cheap option just use a good concealor- it’s literally the same thing.

Thanks Scarlett_Angel 🙂 I`ll have another look into Australis, I did test one that came in a metallic pink tube and wasn`t sure if it was the texture I was after, but I`ve ordered an essence one off the beautorium which I`m looking forward to trying. And Concealer does do a great job, it`s what I used in the past, but thought maybe I should actually try a dedicated primer 😛

Thanks everyone for the suggestions 🙂 they all sound like great products, I’ll get my research on heheh! Also I saw in beautorium an essence primer for only 100 points so I thought why not give it a whirl. It got a good review (I think there was only the one review) but hopefully it will be good. But I’ll still hunt for my perfect primer and all your advice really helps 🙂

Thanks Linda_Vesinger 🙂 I love NYX, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that brand! I will definitely look into their primers. I have tested an Australis one but I wasn’t sure about the texture and whether it would work on my eyelids because I too get oily eyelids. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Highly recommend NYX – they have 3 shades, a nude, a white and a shimmery white. The one I reach for every day is the nude one, it works really well on my very oily eyelids.

I have real trouble keeping eyeshadow in place and looking great without a primer, and have honestly found my HG primer with the NYX range. They come in glass jars and last for many months of daily use

Great question. I’ve only used the Napoleon Perdis eye primer and it’s way too expensive for me these days. I’m going to check out the Etude House one.

I can’t find an eye primer that really works for me so I still use my MAC Paint Pot in Painterly, it’s far from cheap but lasts forever.

I had to google that product Stay C but it looks like it would do the trick 🙂 I actually was using a Revlon concealer at one stage and also for a while was using an old deluxe sized “”lemon-aid”” colour corrector cream from Benefit. The Lemon-aid actually worked quite well as it`s designed for eyelids, but it`s not really designed to be a primer I don`t think, more just for counteracting redness, and it kind of dried up after a while.

I have only used UD and Too Faced so I am not really of any help here to suggest a cheaper alternative. I prefer Too Faced over UD (by a lot) as the Too Faced one lasts forever. The UD one dries out and eventually needs to be thrown out before expiry. With the Too Faced one you are set once you have a tube. It lasts forever (until you want to throw it out).

Ahh thanks skincare junkie that`s good to know! I may still shell out the extra for a more expensive primer so I think I will opt for the Too Faced one if I do 🙂

I bought the ELF on iherb for about $4 from memory and it is very comparable to UD. Of course, for the price it’s staying power isn’t great but I wear it all day at work and come home in the evening and my eyes are still good 🙂
