Beauty and makeup books
I’ve been interested in reading beauty books lately and I thought I could share some with you guys and ask if you are interested in them too, maybe share some of them here. We can all benefit.
I’ve finished Rae morris timeless makeup.
I’m reading at the moment The luxe life by fleur de force.
Thank you.

Thank you so much for these recommendations! Thank you very much for such a detailed explanation. I am graduating from college and plan to attend university. This is an important deadline for me and I need to write a letter of recommendation. I tried to buy letters of recommendation from professional writers https://www.lorservice.com/ who can help me write this list more quickly and efficiently.

Okatko I know what you mean but she actually doesn’t release newsletters regularly which is good lol. She also has a YouTube channel which I am hoping to catch up on someday…
Lab muffin is also a good one to follow. She has a website and is on Instagram if you’re interested in skin care and ingredients.

Oh I LOVE this topic!!! I thought I was the only one who still hang onto makeup books!!
I think Kevyn Aucoin has influenced my work most. I have Making Faces and Face Forward. Both are more than 10 years old but none of the pictures look dated.
I also have the Ultimate Guide by Rae Morris but I haven’t finished reading it, despite having it for many years (maybe 8 or 9). She’s a cousin of one of my ex-bosses by the way, she wasn’t that famous back then but I didn’t tell my boss I know who she is because I didn’t want him to know that I have my MUA career (It wouldn’t have gone well in a top tier law firm!)

I love Kevyn Aucoin, what a legend. Yes, I agree his books never look outdated. I also like Scott Barnes JLo`s makeup artist his books are very educational. Thank you for sharing about Rae Morris, the thing is that her brushes are so expensive. I mean really outrageous haha.

I read Color Me Beautiful when having your colours analysed was all the rage. That was in my twenties, and I’m now in my fifties. Reading the book and having my colours analysed was a good starting point (more for clothing than makeup).
The system of colour analysis for different complexions has probably been expanded upon by different people since then.

I`ve got the Color Me Beautiful book & I found it helpful, at least when my hair was darker. It gave me a good idea of what colours suited me clothing wise & what doesn`t. Thankfully they were all colours I naturally gravitated towards anyway. It`s still helpful enough even though I`m now copper, although I have found that reds, pinks, berry & plum shades don`t suit me quite as well anymore. (Can still sport them on my lips thankfully.) I don`t listen to the body shape or makeup advice though.
This list from UK site Kettlewell Colours has also helped me recently. It goes by tonal directions, but also by seasons if that`s what you`re used to. They have a colour quiz on their website but they want your email details at the end of it, which I cba giving them. Might come in handy.
