Applying eyeshadow on hooded eyes?

Hi guys, I have hooded eyes and have struggled with applying eyeshadow. I’ve watched many Youtube videos and have read a few articles but was wondering if any of you have good tips and trick that you have personally found worked well for you/this eye shape?

+1 for ELF eye primer. Prime eyelids first then apply powder. Or alternatively pat some powder on first, then apply eyeshadow.

I have hooded eyes too. I’m not sure if you’ve seen this post http://imgur.com/a/rqbaM I’m not sure if we’re allowed to post links here but if you google “A visualization of common tips for correcting hooded eyes” it will come up right away. But it was incredibly helpful for me and applying eyeshadow with hooded eyes. There’s also another trick called the straight line technique (or something similar) for hooded eyes which is supposed to ‘lift’ your eye shape.

As for general eyeshadow tips, apply a primer and set the primer with an eyeshadow close to your skin tone or translucent powder. This gives you a smooth base to apply eyeshadows which makes blending much easier. Also when you use eyeshadow try building up colours instead of applying a ton at a time. It might take a while but the results are well worth it!

I have the same problem. it sucks that my eyelids are really oily too.
I second the eye primer suggestion, I use etude house proof 10 eye primer and the eye pencils and crayons from the MUFE aqua range
    good luck 🙂

eyeshadow primer or eyelid primer as it’s sometimes called. So far the ELF one (only $6 at Kmart) is the only one that has worked for me – all the rest have been sticky (which if you have hooded lids actually sticks them together!) or they clump off in little balls. The ELF keeps my eye makeup on all day. But there are a few good tutorials on youtube which you have obviously already done – but primer is the key!
