Violet Box closing

I just received an email from Violet Box advising that the July monthly beauty box will be their last box.

They cited as their main reason the depreciating Australian dollar, and how it made their business unsustainable.

Shame – I’ve been with them since their first box & discovered some wonderful products. I also felt that, unlike some other Australian boxes, that they were good value, and by giving everyone basically the same box each month, weren’t doing the ‘one good box, others often rubbish’ scenario that a couple of other boxes are notorious for doing.

I’m sure the Parcel has impacted on their business too, as it would for all the other Aussie boxes.

The email mentioned that they’ll be having good special deals in their online store in coming weeks as they close up shop.

    There are lots of suggestions in there, and she’s thinking about starting a specific forum thread to each box opening.

    Aw. That’s a bit sad as I thought they were the better box and I was going to resign up to them as I had a break from all beauty boxes for a while…

    The parcel may be the way to go now.

    Bummer. Anyone have any other recommendations on other beauty boxes to subscribe to?

    That is sad. I haven’t subscribed to any boxes except The Parcel, but it’s always sad to know about a business closing, especially fairly new ventures.
    Competition is tough and it’s hard if you don’t have resources to keep going.

    Oh that’s a shame! I stopped subscribing last year as I was drowning in products to use up but they were definitely one of the better ones. Especially for running on time and having great customer service. 🙁

    That’s a shame! While I didn’t stay with them for long because I was getting 2 or 3 really poor quality products each month, I did think they were one of the better beauty box providers in terms of their service. It’s a bit sad to hear that they’ve called it quits.
