This is an update about the MUSQ Cream Cleanser which I’ve just finished using. I still really like the cleanser and I’d be willing to buy it again due to its lighter consistency (compared to other natural creamy cleansers). However, I started to notice that I needed more cotton makeup rounds to remove my makeup compare to other creamy cleansers. I then switched to removing my makeup with a cleansing cloth, and this was much better.

For anyone concerned about scents, the cleanser has a very subtle scent that I barely noticed.

And dammit Lubz, now I’m craving chocolate and don’t think I have any 🙁

I get really flakey at times which isn’t that noticeable until I apply foundation and suddenly there it is, I tend to use my fingers to apply my base as I’m always rushing but I’ll give the sponge a go next time I flake out Lubz.

Dara I also use Modelco Face Base when my skin is crappy as it’s one of those clear, silicone primers that leaves your skin feeling silky and allows foundation to glide on over it, I used to have a very similar product by Inglot too.

Ooh I`ll have to try that -thanks StayC.

I have to say now that my skin is back under control (yay antibiotics) I have tried the samples of MUSQ again and I am so pleased nearly all the lighter colours actually suit my skintone and the sample is exactly the right amount to get full coverage.

Super impressed because it seems like you would need more but the sample bags keep on giving!

Definitely want to get some MUSQ after my current foundations are all out (expiry dates looming so need to finish what I have first haha).

And yesterday I used a sample of Too Faced primer which was similar if not a bit thicker, I was really impressed with the result. Again it just allows the foundation to glide smoothly over the top and not grab hold of those dry, flakes that you get especially when a spot is healing.

      I`ll just leave this here.

What did you think of the consistency and stuff Darasparkle?

    • 7 yrs, 7 mths ago

I found the consistency a bit difficult to apply.

However, I think that`s just because I am going through the dry stage after having the breakouts/reaction from the Kora products (damn combination skin) so it`s in the tender / t-zone dryness stage which makes this particular consistency a bit difficult to spread.

But, I don`t want to judge too much quite yet haha they gave so many different colour variations to try so I am hopeful one is my right shade – I have pink undertones and am quite fair so it is rather difficult to find the correct one.

Have any of you guys applied their products with a sponge? Maybe using just a brush wasn`t the quite tool for the texture.

      • 7 yrs, 7 mths ago

hey dara, if your skin is textured, a sponge may be your best bet as you`re patting product into your skin rather than smoothing it on. try a sponge and let us know how it worked out for you.

Or, you could even use a stippling brush and use the same bouncing motion to apply it to your skin. This works in a similar fashion to the blending sponge. But be wary that coverage could be higher with a stippling motion.

I’ve only tested out one satchet so far – the name that was written in marked wiped off so I have no clue which one it was but it was actually too fair for my skin (which never happens) so it’s nice to see they have such a huge range.

I will have to try my other satchet’s this week and see if there is another shade that is more suited to my complexion.

Petal Like always you give us such good detailed feedback!! Do you think the cleanser would work for a good second cleanse after oil cleansing or is it much like an oil cleanser?

  • 7 yrs, 7 mths ago

oh no Lubz I had a flat out and stressful shift last night so I only just saw this!
How is your skin this morning?

I used the bronzer yesterday and took your hint on board to use a clean brush to blend it ….. much better!

My order has arrived according to tracking and is at the PO Box waiting for pick up 🙂

It`s a lot better this morning thank you Oonga. My cleanser have cleared it up. I cant wait to see your stash. Hope your morning is much better!

Great breakdown Petal. I did have a close look (with my 5x magnifying mirror) at my skin once the foundation was on and I didn’t find any flaking, nor did it just sit on the pores. The formula may have changed so please do try it.

Here is my experience with MUSQ products …

MUSQ Face & Body Exfoliant: This felt too harsh for my face but it was great for my body. It isn’t your typical sugar/salt/grain-based scrub. Its texture is more like finely-milled sand. It has a light scent. I usually prefer body scrubs that contain salt or sugar, as the scrubs with crushed seeds don’t do much. I would consider buying this scrub again, but it’s a bit expensive for regular use as a body scrub.

MUSQ Hand Wash Lemon Myrtle and Mandarin: Some natural body/hand washes have a faint scent, but this has a lovely lemon myrtle scent. I couldn’t smell the mandarin. I would not hesitate to buy this again.

MUSQ Cream Cleanser: I use natural-based creamy cleansers from brands such as A’kin, Trilogy, La Mav, Sukin. I’m using this one by MUSQ at the moment, and I really like it due to its slightly lighter consistency. I will probably buy this cleanser again.

Crème Foundation: I bought this three years ago in a shade that’s not on their website called Oyster (it’s probably discontinued). I am not sure whether the foundation I bought is the same formula as what is currently available – the compact is a different colour so take this into consideration. I have pale skin and the palest shade in most ranges is a bit too dark. Oyster was their palest shade at the time, and it is almost ghostly white. I have dry skin and when I look at my face in my magnifying mirror when wearing this foundation, it accentuates every tiny flaky bit on my face that is usually invisible to me. It also pools into the larger pores. I’m thinking about getting a foundation sample again one day to see if the formula is the same.

Oonga, I think I reacted to either the blush or bronzer. I found about 5 hours of wearing it, I got little bumps on the skin. It’s gone down a lot, but still there. Not hormonal bumps either. 🙁
