Infection from dirty make up

I have just gone through this article

http://www.msn.com/en-au/lifestyle/style/an-aussie-model-has-a-warning-for-women-after-she-caught-a-nasty-infection-from-dirty-makeup/ar-BBxjfTR?li=AA2FZ8I&ocid=spartanntp

It is really scary, have any one experience this problem before. I have never done make up by SA or Makeup expert in Dj, myer or priceline, what is your experience with make up consultation?

Such an important conversation for everyone to have! I always ask if/how brushes/products have been cleaned or sanitised before a SA or makeup artist puts them near my face… better safe than sorry!

That freaks me out so much!! I always watch them like a hawk whilst shopping to see what they do after previous consultations etc before i even book to make sure they have a good cleaning routine in place haha

I think recommendations are always the best , and my sister in law tells me never go to a nail salon if you can smell toxic fumes from the doorway so that’s another tip !

Such an important topic, thanks for sharing the article BB.

I’ve never had an infection from a salon or having my nails done fortunately. That said, I soon found out that having my nails done at a cheaper salon really affected their health – I’ve been told from other BH members that over-buffing can cause the severe weakness I had from having Shellac nails done twice in a few weeks – it took my nails 6 months to recover properly, they would break, tear, or rip without any obvious reason, and it was very frustrating.

I decided there and then to never return to one of the cheaper nail places for any reason, and to be honest, other than a pedicure on a cruise ship, I’ve not had any professional touch my nails – I’m too paranoid about damage and weakness again, even though my daughter has her nails done with a private beautician and has never had any problem in a year or more. Cheaper nail salons are more interested in how fast they can get you out the door and onto the next customer, rather than protecting nail health – and you have to wonder how much genuine training the staff may have had – I suspect not much in many cases

This is scary but doesn’t suprise me at all.

In the past ive had an eye infection / eye brow infection from a lady waxing and tinting eyebrows. Had to use steriod and antibiotics cream. I do my own now . And made complaint.

I also have picked up a toe nail infection from a pedicure. im very worried about the hygiene practices in nail salons. many use the same scrubber and nail file from client to client. The lady stripped my toe nail down side leading to fungal infection. This never happened before and ive since found out its illegal.
I’ve expressed my concerns to acc about the hygiene practices of nail saloons. They are scary.
I now only go to professional beauty saloons and express my concerns.

Never got infection from makeup down but ive only every done this once. I think you need to express your concerns at time. Its too dangerous.

I think there needs to be more client awareness. Speaking up is important.
