I don’t mind the They’re Real mascara. They hold the curl relatively well for me. But its a b!**** To remove. I need a strong eye makeup remove to get rid of this stuff

Glad to know that I am not alone on some of these hyped products yet found them very below average.

They’re real mascara was one of the worst mascaras i’ve used. Completely Smudged by midday. Dont think it did much in the first place anyway.

Also could not understand cetaphil either. I tried it a very long time ago. Despite being on student budget at that time, i still prefer the mild cleansers from clinique. I didnt think my face was cleansed using cetaphil. I recently got a bottle from the priceline goody bag, thought about giving it another go, but after reading these posts again i dont think my impression will change.

Great thread, now I know what to tell the kids not to buy for me for C’mas!

Hyped product of 2016 for me would def have to be the Estee Lauder double wear nude buffing stick thing (not the official name! Haha). So stupid they called it ‘double wear’ when it is nothing like the original – def a marketing ploy. Plus it looks like you get a lot of product but it’s actually half the amount of a normal foundation (or less I cant remember the exact quantity and it’s sitting at the bottom of my makeup stuff and I can’t be bothered finding it). The sponge or bufffer it comes with is pretty useless too although I like the concept in theory. I’m such a sucker for new products! I don’t want to throw it out because it was expensive so maybe I will mix it with the L’Oréal matte foundation which is a touch too dark.

Going to bump this up and ad another one im like huh with.
The Cetaphil cleanser. I brought this to use after incorporating active treatments and post peels and I do not get the fuss about it.
The ingredients are terrible and I don’t feel it does a good job. I don’t get it at all.

I have a few hyped products of 2015, I’ll keep it to two for now haha otherwise I could probably write an essay about them all!

    • Origins Clear Improvement Face Mask: I bought this after my acne was just getting a bit too much for me to handle and this face mask was AMAZING! It helps to clear the skin so well and leaves your face soft and clear, helping to get rid of blemishes much faster. It is my holy grail face mask!

    • Frank Body Creamy Face Scrub: I received this last year and I love it! I use it 2-3 times a week and it always helps to clean my face and get rid of dirt and everything, leaving your face as soft as a babies bum, seriously its amazing!

I do have good experience with Benefit but i guess we do pay a premium here in Aus.
Have to differentiate the marketing sometimes, too many promises and too good to be true. Gotta do that expectation alignment to avoid disappointments.

I have used up all my Benetint, i won’t be repurchasing despite really liking the pink tint. There are many other products with more user friendly packaging at a fraction of the price.

Another one who got sucked in by Benefit – almost everything I have tried from Benefit has been underwhelming, even the way overhyped Porefessional which just emphasised dry patches and didn’t seem to make my makeup last any longer.
Also the Benetint which is way too watery and stains unevenly.
The worst ones would have to be “that gal” primer and dandelion blush – the primer made my face greasy and the blush didn’t show up on my light-medium skin at all.

I haven’t tried They’re Real mascara yet because I’ve been so disappointed with most of my Benefit products (which are also really pricy in Australia) but I still get tempted to try it sometimes because of all the good reviews. The one Benefit product that I actually really like and use is the Watt’s Up highlighter, it’s actually gorgeous.

Got suckered into the Hourglass products.

    1. Ambient Lighting Powders – I use the one in mood light and for some reason I find it cake and not glowy at all (using a light hand).

    2. Blushes – Yes, they are nice blushes but very overpriced. I think more affordable priceline brands will do the same thing.
