Brands or Companies that do not Age Discriminate

As there has been some discussion recently where members feel they are overlooked for trials due to their age being at the higher end (I’m not going to nominate a number!) I thought it might be helpful if we could share our experiences in a positive way.

If you have come across a company or brand that has included your age range in trials, samples, customer service in-store where others have ignored you or any other circumstance, please let us know.

If they support us, I will support them!

I am not going to stipulate an age or age range- you may be 37 or 77 and feel ignored by beauty companies.

Please keep this Positive – if you have a gripe, start another forum!

And I am on my first BH trial for the Nivea Pearls serum and that has an upper age of 55. Serum is great too!

I got an email from bh saying that VS Sassoon want to send me one of their straighteners after reading my comments on the forum! The email was sent Thursday, so it’s not an April Fools’ Day joke. I RSVP’d with permission to forward my contact details. I’m thrilled but it’s weird! I wonder if it was a forum comment or an article comment? I made a comment on the “Straightening Myths Busted” article, http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/hair/hair-tools/hair-straightening-myths#comment-2631101 also on the VS Sassoon Goddess Trial Team article, http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/trial/vs-sassoon-goddess-reviews#comment-2630361

I think it’s most likely the TT article comment. I’m stoked either way, so I thought I’d share.

I often speak about TVSN, the home shopping network, in the forums. Much of their skincare contains higher percentages of active ingredients, and they have a natural skincare brand which is my preference (Nourish from the UK). If you’re on the mature side, then you are going to have better results with products that have a high percentage of active ingredients.

Presenters demonstrate products across a broad range of age groups. They show before and after photos with their anti-ageing products on people in their fifties and beyond. I’ve seen makeup demonstrated on mature faces.

As some people may be aware, I joined BH in 2013 and I haven’t been on a trial; most likely due to me being older (age 52). I reapplied for the trial team late last year. Just recently, I received an invitation for a Pantene product (I was in bed unwell at the time, so I didn’t accept). Based on this, Pantene does not discriminate with their trials.

I’m going to nominate The Joboba Company, they have a wonderful range for us ‘mature’ gals. They have been recommended to me by 2 different health food shops that stock organic/natural skincare. The Jojoba Company is obviously generous to their stockists and both stores were knowledgeable regarding their range of products. I was given decent size samples to try and I have since purchased their lovely products, the Jojoba Youth Potion is fabulous and my absolute favourite. Their website is Jojobacompany.com.au

  • Nivea & Dr Lewins

I have had trials for products by those companies.

  • Awesome idea Kassalee, really looking forward to seeing the great companies that the more ‘mature’ members have had a good experience with.

    I’m going to nominate

    L’oreal

I’ve been selected a couple of times in the past 18 months for trials for L’oreal.

Once for their Fibraology hair type for fine hair, which was how they picked their participants, age didn’t matter.

More recently, when they re-formulated their Revitalift face moisturiser, again age didn’t seem to matter to them, more what participants needed in a face moisturiser and if you needed anti-ageing benefits

I will kick it off with the Australian Company

    Alchemy – Akin

I was sent an invitation email last November to trial a product prior to it’s launch .

    The A’kin trial I was on, included those aged 18 – 65+
    That covers everyone!

It was for Dry Shampoo and Yes! We all need to shampoo our hair regardless of our age!

This product was recently trialled here on bh (unsure if any age range) and will be available in stores on April 1 if you’d like to support A’kin.
