I don’t watch her videos, but I don’t think using something on your body that is meant for your face is not unusual, I think many people do it (I have) and it’s a way of using something up instead of wasting it. I think that would be her reasoning behind it.

I also don’t like peoples opinions being forced on me, if I want to wear a colour that is not suitable according to someone else then I just ignore their advice , no matter how experienced or inexperienced they may be.

I don’t know where to put this but would like some thoughts from people who subscribe to Beauty News (and I believe Kat is a BH member, not sure about Hayley) although I would like to specifically just talk about Kat.

I am a bit disappointed by some of the things Kat talks about in her individual videos. I guess I am not expecting her to be any sort of expert on skincare but my impression from some of the things she says is that she doesn’t know much about it. E.g. talks about not having any results from using peptide serums, or, in her recent video, using an eye serum on her body – sorry, I find that bizarre. I suppose she is entitled to talk about whatever she likes but lately I find myself questioning how much I really respect her opinion on products, at least only in relation to skincare. I think her views on makeup are still, and hopefully always will be, spot on.

    What does everyone else think?

Regarding peptide serums, I haven`t had much luck with them – in fact, I firmly believe Buffet from The Ordinary broke me out a bit. It certainly made using up the product much harder (I could only use 1 drop at a time) & it has made me wary of using peptide serums in future. I guess everybody`s skin is different though.

Regarding the eye serum – if it didn`t work for Kat, then I suppose she tried to use it up in a way she felt was best. I`ve taken her lead in regards to using face oils on my body before & that worked to get rid of them (although granted, it was only the 1 face oil but still, wouldn`t hesitate to use one on my body again if it didn`t agree with my face). I know that the jury is somewhat out when it comes to eye creams/gels/serums & whether they work or not (or whether we even need them), so I`ll give her the benefit of the doubt.

I watch both Kat & Hailey`s individual videos for fun/interest. I don`t like the fact that they both hate pink blush & lipstick (they`ve both banged on about that a lot recently; it`s starting to sound like a broken record tbh) because pink is the only shade I can wear in terms of blush. I also tend to wear a lot of pink lipstick too (plus the occasional red) because other shades just don`t suit my fair & cool-toned skin. Am I going to stop watching them because of their hatred of pink? Probs not, despite my aforementioned gripes. Again, everyone`s different & I respect that…but my gosh do I wish I could wear orange/nude/peach blush & lipstick!

I guess I`m trying to see things from the point of view of someone who has a massive collection of stuff (which I know she has) & wants to use stuff up. I don`t think she claims/has ever claimed to be a fountain of knowledge when it comes to skincare, however, her skin is a little similar to mine (I`m less oily than she is, however, I`ve got combination skin that also suffers from rosacea & I too can`t use too many actives), so I guess I take in her opinions but also come to my own conclusions about skincare etc.

(P.S. Hailey was also a BH member, as was Kat.)

From someone with sensitive skin that definitely has had extreme allergic reactions, I would never persist depending on the reaction, inflamed skin / pain / extreme redness (I have redness already so some redness is alright).

And from the brand that shall remain nameless there’s no way 6 weeks would’ve helped that mess. It took me nearly a year to fix that “purging” situation!

    Awful advice from Priceline, disappointed!

Guess it depends on what type of product it is? When I started tret (retinoids) I looked like a hideous beast lol, but I knew the “tret uglies” wouldn’t ease for 6-8 weeks as that is how long the skin cycle takes. I had fresh baby skin after that and all was good.

If it’s a general product and not something with strong actives then no. If I get a reaction to a new product I wait until skin is back to normal and try again and if I get same reaction I know for sure it’s the product and bin it.

Thoughts on this info from Priceline?

Downright crazy in my opinion, Janefre. As one who has had more reactions to products than most I can only imagine what would happen if I continued to use something that affected me. I`ve had migraines from some ingredients – if it`s a fragrance or specific ingredient issue the chances of it settling down are low. Using something for 3 weeks when it obviously doesn`t suit you is beyond ridiculous!

Sorry to come on so strongly but as someone who really does have allergic reactions to ingredients and fragrance, not often knowing just what has caused the reaction, it`s totally stupid and potentially dangerous.

Trish I completely agree. Most of the comments to this instagram post do also. I`m lucky not to have sensitive skin but you can bet if a product “”suddenly”” changes my skin for the worse I`m going to stop using it.

      • I see it as a strategy to say “”don`t come back and request a refund!””

Personally, I have had about 2 or 3 really bad adverse reactions to products and it did not end well when I tried to keep pushing. On one occassion my head was twice its size and I had to take prescription anti allergic drug.

On other more minor reactions (e.g. skin congestion / pimples) using acids for example I also had persisted but none (with no exception) had resulted in a “”clearing up”” even persisting for more than 3 weeks. I don`t believe in “”purging”” and now learned to stop using when I see first signs of adverse reaction.

Unfortunately I won’t buy nars now. I’m sure everyone has heard about their decision to sell in China another Animal testing.

This makes me super bummed 🙁 I loved Nars!

      • 6 yrs, 8 mths ago

There is so much hate on nars instagram and Facebook. I don`t agree with their decision and won`t buy them but I don`t think overall horrible nasty comments on social media is necessary.
