Ways to save money shopping online

Hello girls,

I really love shopping online (especially now while lockdown). Do you now any tricks to save money shopping online? I know there are coupon sites with promo codes, but maybe there are more ways? Waiting for your answers! Thanks 🙂

Online shopping is a real lifesaver during lockdown, right? Apart from coupon sites, here’s a little tip: ever tried cashback apps? They’re like a secret money-saving weapon.

During the pandemic, I learned several lifehacks on how to get a coupon or discount. It all depends on which store you are purchasing in.
I really like Aliexpress. They always have a large selection of goods and low prices. I place an order for some trinket, then cancel it and indicate the reason “changed my mind”. After a while, I receive an apology letter and a promo code for a 10% discount.
If I shop at Walmart or eBay, I use coupons with DontPayFull.com. I have already recommended this site to all my friends.

Sometimes when I add stuff to my cart and go through the checkout process but then close the window before paying I will get sent a email with a discount code for 10-20%. I use shopback where I can (I currently have $618.75 in my account….I love online shopping and it all adds up!) and once it is redeemable you can transfer the $$ to your bank/paypal account. If a shop isn’t in shopbacks list of participating stores I will try cashback or honey for discount codes, hope that helps!

Yes I have found that too – If you look interested and then change your mind a lot of sites then offer a good discount .

What really helps me is the cashback system. This year almost all my purchases were online because of the quarantine. I got more than half of the money I spent back. There’s also a percentage from the bank if you shop online.

I’ve been trying to reply with an explanation of how C-A-S-H-B-A-C-K providers work, but BH website keeps returning an error

Honestly, I am big on finding bargains especially being on maternity leave and I always look for coupons online and see what I can find. It helps to be able to get more off whenever possible.

The very best advice I was given is to ask myself do I need this or do I just want it before I click the final enter button.
When I do that I have saved myself some money as it really breaks that shopping trance that’s so easy to enter!

Try having a look on catch.com.au they always have great bargains on makeup and skincare. I also recommend the browser honey as well. Email companies telling them how much you love there products and ask if they can send you a coupon or some samples. Also have a look each week at the new catalogues and wait for a good feel. Hope this helps!!

Agree 100% with using the Cashrewards, Shopback and Qantas Points browser extensions to notify you when you’re on a site that allows cashbacks/extra points. Their email lists are very helpful too so you can plan your purchases when there are larger cashbacks going on.

Also recommend the age-old trick of adding things to your cart, leaving it and sometimes you’ll get an email within the next 24 hours giving you a discount. Also always sign up to the email list before you shop on a new site cause they may have a % off for the first purchase.

Search for the product on Google and click the shopping tab to compare different sites and prices. Sites like Catch and Ebay will often have good prices (but Ebay you would always want to make sure it’s a proper seller like a pharmacy or something).

I personally loveee using Chrome extensions for online shopping as they pop up automatically when you’re on an associated website. The ones I use and trust are:

    • ShopBack. My main love, haha! They give you a percentage of cashback when you shop on certain websites. Just make sure to read the terms before you checkout to make sure what you’re ordering is eligible for cashback. (For 5$ cashback on your first valid purchase use this link: https://app.shopback.com/aus?raf=XE6yWK&slug=referred-signup-bonus )

    • Cashrewards. I use this one less than ShopBack because I find the percentages are often lower, but it’s worth a double check anyway. It’s more or less the same system as ShopBack (percentage of cashback based) but there are some stores you can purchase with in real life that give you cashback if you use a linked Visa or Mastercard which is cool. They seem to be adding more and more shops to this in-store service I’ve noticed. (Get $10 off your first approved purchase of $20 or more using this link: https://refer.cashrewards.com.au/x/J3n8eU )

    • Honey. As mentioned by many above, Honey is great for coupons. It scans them automatically at your cart with certain online retailers. I do find that sometimes it misses some though so I do normally check via google for coupons too. But it does save a lot of time filtering through various ones for you. I also like that you can earn ‘Honey Gold’ that you can put toward a giftcard of your choice when you have earnt enough. I recently spent mine on an Amazon giftcard which was a great little reward. (Use this link for an extra 500 honey gold when you sign up via this link: joinhoney.com/ref/s7xvkf )

    • Qantas Frequent Flyer Points. For anyone that collects Qantas points, the extension on Chrome is a must. A lot of the time they have bonus point frenzys where you can earn quite a lot of points for an average online shopping haul. (Use this link to learn about the chrome extension: https://shopping.qantas.com/points-prompter )

Hope this helps you ladies! The links are mainly referral links so feel free to use or not use at your disposal, but they are all great services and I think they definitely save money and time in the long run! 🙂
