Yes cetaphil oily skin or cleanser works a treat.

Use Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer Twice every day. Look for cleansers that contain sulfur, salicylic acid or tea tree oil, all of which dissolve excess sebum.

I would give The ordinary skincare products a try – you can build a routine to suit your skin type, but would definitely try one of their retinols, their Niacinimide and Zinc serum and their Sacilylic acid face mask.

I find that any products with glycolic acid or salicylic acid helpful in terms of keeping the breakouts at bay for oily skin (even if you have dry patches in between).

I have liked using the Skin Doctors and Alpha H range of acid-based cleansers and moisturisers.

of the ones you can get in supermarkes dont have as much range but I have found the Clearasil cleanser with sacilylic acid to be ok although others who have sensitive skin may find that it’s too much to use on a daily basis. I use it for my back as i have super oily skin there and am prone to getting bacne.

Not sure if Shortie still follows this post.

I used to have very oily T-zone and breakout often, oil-stripping products only made it worse.

Then I found out about hyaluronic acid (water retention) and it has been life-changing.

It doesn’t need to be specifically hyaluronic acid, but anything to retain water. The higher the moisture content in the skin, the less oil it produces. Keeping my skin hydrated has completely balanced its oil production.

And then slowly I started incorporating oil into my skincare routine and never looked back.

    Good luck!!

My main tips are to use 2% salicylic acid as a toner (the Clear Skincare one is at Priceline) say once or twice a week (more if needed), and not to be afraid of using moisturiser. The oily parts of your skin are usually quite dry which is why they are producing so much extra oil to make up for it, so don’t let it get dryer!

    Hey Shortie 821!

Since I’ve discovered my combination/oily skin type, I’ve tried a few products that have helped me. This is just based on my skin which is also sensitive. A cleanser I find great is Avene Cleanance, it is suited to blemish prone and oily skin and I find it doesn’t strip my face causing it to produce more oil. I stay well away from using facial oils and instead use the La Roche Posay Effeclar Duo. The La Roche Posay cleanser that comes in a set with this serum is also really great. Mattifying mositurisers are my best friend. I love the La Roche Posay Effeclar Matt. I have tried the Sukin Mattifying mosituriser and it is ok but leaves my face with a slight oily residue after half a day. For a face mask I love the Napoleon Perdis Bamboo Charcoal peel-off mask and the Sukin Anti-Pollution mask. Mind you I have only tried a handful of products but I do really like these. I use the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer mattifying suncreen on my face and it feels so smooth and helps to absorb some of that shine. I use the Sukin original hydrating mist and the Swisse Sea minerals mist. For a nightly mosituriser I use The Ordinary Vitamin C HA mosituriser which will leave your skin a bit greasy at first but absorbs well and doesn’t leave my face oily in the morning.

These are not on the expensive end but I hope they may help in some way for you. X
