Humidity and make-up
Humidity and makeup
Hot topics or hot tropics! Queensland is already sizzling and for the first time my usual matte foundation I have been using for years is melting off my face :( no amount of mattifying products can withstand at the moment. My skin is changing and not accepting what it used to accept. I am just hating my skin this week and every time I look in the mirror I have dry cakey powder and an oil slick sliding off my face. My trusted makeup products are just not working! Does anyone have any budget friendly heat withstanding products they can recommend, or tell me what they do when it is really hot and humid?

Baby Soft Skin
This product exceeded my expectations massively. The texture of the product is really nice light and no smell whatsoever.
Not worth it
I got this in a Christmas kit in the shade Lean in. I’m not sure if the problem is the shade or the gloss itself but I don’t think it’s a product to use on its own.
Super glittery and not very lasting
I got this product in the shade 872 Glit/Doré. I find that the colour looks nice on first application but as soon as you blend it it fades and you’re just left with a bunch of glitter in your eye.

A couple of years ago I heard about facial antiperspirants. I've used Neat Feat 3B Face Saver & No More Sweat Antiperspirant Face & Scalp, both available at Chemist Warehouse.
Neat Feat 3B Face Saver is a clear gel in a tube. I think it works better than No More Sweat, but it's got a bit of a smell like old ladies' drawers (not a euphemism).

No More Sweat Antiperspirant Face & Scalp: this is a liquid in a spray bottle. I spray into my palms & apply to my face & back of my neck.

TO USE: If you apply them just before you go out, they won't work! I learnt this the hard way. You need to apply them at night! Next morning, you can still cleanse before applying makeup & it works! My oily skin doesn't become a swamp! You also have to carefully avoid your eyes & mouth when applying.
I wonder how safe these are for regular use, so I only use it on the hottest days & only when I'm going out. (I swap to a natural, non-Aluminium deodorant during winter. I hope this helps even out my year-round exposure.)
Oh wow thank you for that. I have never heard or thought of face antipersperant! I will have a look next time I’m at chemist warehouse. Today is actually forecast to be the hottest day this week and the humidity is already stifling. But I’m not going anywhere today so going to have nothing on my face today. It’s when I’m at work I feel so conscious of my awful skin! Maybe I can get away with just using it a few days a week.
You must be in Qld! (I'm in Sydney.)
Whichever one you buy, you've got to apply it underneath any other skincare products. I thought that was BS, so the first few times I applied it over moisturiser. It didn't work. I was just about to give up, then I thought I might just try it under moisturiser like they said. The difference was amazing! So DO apply to freshly cleansed skin, AT NIGHT BEFORE SERUM, MOISTURISER &c.
Good luck, Stacey!
By the way, everyone was wishing you a happy birthday back in October on the birthday thread: https://www.beautyheaven.com.au/forums/anything-but-beauty/having-a-birthday-this-week-post-it-here-and-well-send-a-cheer?page=308#comment-4357722
Oh thanks everyone for the birthday wishes :)
Happy Birthday Stacey827
I have never heard of this.
It intrigues me but I do wonder about the safety...
I live in TNQ so I feel your pain. I had a local Makeup Artist recommend Maybelline Dream Smooth Primer and I haven't looked back. Give it a try.
Where do you purchase this? I cannot find it. There is only dream matte mousse foundation
Hmmm. You might be right. I purchased it from Priceline (see photo).
Google "Maybelline Dream Smooth Primer" for the list of Suppliers. It's not available on the Priceline or Chemist Warehouse sites. I didn't see it on the Maybeline site either so they must have either changed the packaging or deleted this one and replaced it with MASTER PRIME PERFECTING PRIMER or SUPERSTAY 24HR PRIMER.
MAC Fix+. The holy grail of setting sprays. It's a little pricey but 100% worth it. Recently I attended a wedding, so I had a full face of makeup on from 9am - 1am the next morning, and it was a 35+ degree day. Only had to spritz it when I initially applied my makeup, and then once more during the night. Makeup still looked good by the time I got home!
I'm in QLD too and I swear by Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day setting spray. I have oily skin and the Mac Fix+ Matte doesn't work for me. I applied my makeup at 8am and sprayed with the Slay All Day, was in the heat and outside all day. When I looked at my makeup just before removing it about 8pm, I was still cmpletely matte, even with the heat, humidity and oily skin.
Oh thank you this sounds like something I must give a try then!
I have this problem all year round from a medical condition causes my head to drip with sweat (just my head & it drives me nuts). Makeup just melts off & when I have to wear it I use hairspray on my face, it does dries it out but I have had success with it. Avoid any cream foundation & go with mineral instead as it is less likely to melt when it is a hot day. I apply hairspray before using mineral powder, any brand hairspray will do. I then use Mineral powder (I use Mary Kay but I am sure any brand will be just as good.) Hairspray, then Mineral Powder & anything else you normally use as long as it is a powder, then I apply another layer of hairspray. Take care to remove it at the end of the day & use a good moisturiser to counter the dryness from the hairspray that you used. I am now 56 & my skin is still as good & youthful as if I was in my 40's & get lots of compliments about it so I am happy that it works for me.
Linda243 - have you been to a Dr about trying botox. I know this works for sweaty hands. https://australianskinclinics.com.au/hyperhidrosis/
Have you tried the Rimmel 25hr Lasting comfort serum foundation? That's a good one for sweating!!
I haven’t tried it, so I may very well try a new foundation as mine is not holding up anymore. Thank you
