Eyelash extension infection

I have been to a doctor and I have swollen lids and an eye infection since getting my extensions done.

The doctor never mentioned removing the extensions. I want the extensions removed however, what is the best way to do this without damaging my lashes.

    How did it end?.. My friend was in a similar situation and had to heal both the eyes and the eyelashes after… I really did everything to never feel the need in extensions, in my youth I used castor oil, and now Cherish Lash serum seems very helpful to me… It keeps my eyelashes long and full. We should really rely more on our natural beauty 🙂

      Hi Julie,

      I had to remove the lashes with oil. The problem cleared up after having been given eye drops and antibiotics from the doctors. I totally agree with you, we should definitely try to be more natural. Never again will I be getting lash extensions. I just use mascara now and if I have a night out I will put lashes on myself rather than getting the more permanent lash extensions.

    Go to the lash technician ASAP. They usually have glue remover to remove the extensions safely.

    I suggest given your eyes and eyelashes a good few weeks rest before considering doing it again.

    Discuss with your technician, she should be able to give you the details of the current product you are allergic to and the old product that you are ok with.
    It’s important to have those details in case you go to a different technician next time.

    What a shame this happened to you, I do wonder if it was a sensitivity to the glue as well. I’ve had my lash extensions for many years and honestly hasn’t had a single bad experience, I’d be lost without them!

    yikes! same thing happened to my friend! I’ve had false lashes for over 3 years now and I’ve never really had any issues. My friend went back to the original place she went to and had them removed immediately. hope your all okay now!

    I’m so sorry this happened to you! It must be the type of glue – my friend had an allergic reaction to eyelash extensions too. Definitely get it removed professionally and lay off them for a while!

      Thanks for your concern :). My eyes are better now but I did have to get them removed. Will probably have to do more research before getting it done again. Not in a hurry to get them done in a while after this incident.

    I can sympathise with your eyelash extension situation. My friend has had the same thing happen to her.
    Great thing is you don’t need to use any abrasive products, I recommend you to apply olive or coconut oil as this will work well to dissolve the glue moisturising your eye.
    You can begin by thoroughly washing your face completely clean, then fill a bowl with hot water and put your face over it, covering your head and the bowl with a towel for around 15 minutes. Get a cotton ball or makeup removal pad in coconut oil or olive oil, and gently swipe across the lash line of your closed eye. I suggest repeated strokes. The oil will dissolve the glue and allow your extensions to fall off. Hope this helps 🙂

      Hope your friend made a fast recovery. I will give this a go as I don`t like the idea of going back to an lash extension place for removal in case something goes wrong again.

        Have you thought about using lash boost products that naturally length and strengthen your lashes? I`ve always had such a fear of putting anything on my lashes for that very reason. Are you open to learning about some products that can help?

    I had a severe reaction the last time I had my lash extensions done as well! I was given antihistamine eye drops to help with swelling and redness. They then suggested having the lashes removed as it was most likely the glue I was allergic to.

    I would definitely recommend going to a lash technician to have them removed properly with an eyelash debonder. It can cost approximately $10-$25 depending on where you go 🙂

      Thanks for your advice. I have had lash extensions once before and this never happened but I went to a different place so perhaps a different glue was used or tools were not sterilised properly :/.

      I think I will have to get them removed.
