Best tips for reducing keratosis pilaris

It was only about a year ago that I learnt that the supposed best remedy is AHA/BHAs or Urea, as well as a moisturiser.

I haven’t quite found the right combination yet, and have had even less luck since I’ve had to remove salicylic acid from my regime. I find that glycolic acid helps somewhat, but even using it a few times a week in combination with a non-comedogenic moisturiser is not enough to significantly lessen the bumps.

I’ve noticed that the main product with Urea in it which I want to try, Eucerin, is not available in Australia. I would rather buy something local before I try this.

Does anyone have any tried and tested methods? I used to use a physical exfoliator which never did anything, and the AHAs have made a slight difference, but I’d love to see more of an improvement.

Hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from the skin. Limit bath or shower time to about 10 minutes or less. Use warm, not hot, water. Avoid harsh, drying soaps. Gently remove dead skin (exfoliate) with a washcloth or loofah. Vigorous scrubbing or removal of hair follicle plugs may irritate the skin and aggravate the condition. Instead of rubbing the towel to wipe your body, just pat dry it. Use creams that have lactic acid, alpha hydroxy acid or salicylic acid. These creams help loosen and remove dead skin cells.

I have previously used Lanaté Cream. It’s active ingredient is Ammonium Lactate.
You might want to google Urea. You’ll be surprised where it is sourced.
