Beauty tips and tricks

Hi beauties!

Hope you’re all doing well 🙂

I am curious to know your beauty secrets and suggestions when it comes to your beauty routine. Nothing makes me more excited then learning about what other people do to make themselves look and feel better!

Mine looks a little like this..

*Once a week I will have a bath and add some bath salts and use a sugar scrub or exfoliator. My favourite at the moment is the Sugar Scrub by LUSH Cosmetics.
*Once a week I will make a face mask using coffee beans, honey, raw sugar and olive oil. I leave it on for about 5 minutes then I rinse 🙂 A great alternative is the Frank Coffee Scrub! Yep a body scrub for your face.
*I love to get my nails done at the salon once a month, so I make sure I always leave time to just enjoy myself while I get my nails and toes done 🙂 I have never been one to do them myself at home simply because I am LAZY! Can you ladies recommend any products that have helped grow and strengthen your nails ? I know Sally Hansen’s Maximum Growth works wonders.
*I am so excited it’s getting cooler here in Sydney because one of my favourite things to do is lather myself up in a body oil or plain old coconut oil, including my feet, put on a comfy jumper, trackies and socks! Your skin will feel so soft and smooth the next morning. You could even try doing just your feet before bed! My favourite body oil at the moment is the Rosehip By Essano one.
*Every night I make sure I always remove my make-up (no excuses!). Micellar Water is literally heaven when you cannot be bothered to jump into your skin routine, especially after a night out. One of my all time favourite make-up remover products is the Garnier Micellar Water.

So tell me ladies, can you shine some light on your beauty routine?

Revitanail products have helped strengthen and grow my nails, I also take a QSilica supplement for my nails and have also used the Swisse one as well.

  • There is one tip that I have learnt 10 years ago and I am forever grateful.

Use a serum with hyaluronic acid on very moist or even slightly wet skin. Hyaluronic acid works by binding water to the skin, so there needs to be water for it to work in the first place.

This tip is a true skin transformer.

I don’t wear makeup at all during the day I haven’t for years and and as I am 66 years old and of fair complexion I feel I don’t need it, I do on the odd occasion use a bit of powder if its a big night out and of course lipstick but my biggest and best tip is use a moisturiser every day and any age related treatment you feel you need. I use an eye cream and night cream but not one that is oily . My best tip is Do whatever works for you and if your happy with it , keep it up. I’m not in competition with anyone and am happy ageing ( I hope) gracefully. Thanks BH for putting this up its really interesting reading everyone’s thoughts and how and what they each do.

*my all time favourite face moisturiser is QV cream. It’s incredibly gentle on skin, keeps my face nice and moisturised (no more dry spots) and is super cheap. Been using it for the past 5 years, never going back.

*once every 2 weeks i do a hair treatment of either coconut oil or apple cider vinegar. The coconut oil does wonders to add moisture back into dry hair and, although its not the nicest smelling product, the apple cider vinegar does an amazing job of smoothing out my hair and making it super shiny.

I exfoliate the body using Natures Organics Australian Pure Lilli Pilli & Wattleseed Face Scrub as it’s super gritty, contains natural ingredients and is super cheap. The body wash I use is Palmolive’s Body Polish in either Acai Berry or Strawberry.

If I’ve exfoliated I’ll use Dermal Therapy’s Very Dry Skin Lotion, but if I haven’t I’ll just use Vaseline’s Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser in Advanced Strength.

For face, I exfoliate using St. Ive’s Even & Bright Pink Lemon & Mandarin Orange Scrub, as it’s pretty natural and is more like a paste. I wash my face using Nutrimetic’s Apricot cleansing mousse and/or Phisohex’s Antibacterial cleanser.

I’ll use Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost water gel morning and night on my face, and occasionally use the matching face mask every couple weeks or so.

If I need a facial moisturiser I’ll normally pick one up by Sukin. Or if I need a hair treatment I’ll just use coconut oil.

My favourite part of my beauty routine is finding the time to properly cleanse my face and rinse with a warm face towel, morning or night it always makes me feel happy and relaxed.

If i know i have an important event on the weekend such as a birthday, i won’t wear makeup for 2 days before hand, i find it gives my skin a break and when i do apply makeup it looks flawless. I suffer from small thin gross eye brows, so i invested in an eye brow stencil and it’s amazing. I strongly suggest you girls get one if you are in the same vote as me.
Twice a week ill use a hair treatment, im a huge fan of macadamia deep mask treatment, i swear by it. You used to only be able to get it at Hair house warehouse, but i noticed you can get it at woolies now! I ususally use Bondi self tanning foam in dark, i’ll have a shower and put it on before bed and sleep with it on. In the morning i just wash it off and i’m lovely and bronze! TIP: Use a black fitted sheet so you cant see tan marks haha 😉
