Beauty-Blender Hygiene

So basically like many of you, I use a beauty blender every day for concealer, foundation, etc, but I’m ashamed to say I’m not very good at remembering to wash it regularly. I’m quite concerned about getting germs on my face and that got me thinking about just cleaning beauty brushes and sponges in general- How often should I do this and what’s the best way to make sure they’re truly clean?? Thankyou!!

I think this too! My current one is a bit grubby so I’m going to purchase another one and get better into a better habit of cleaning it.

I clean my brushes/sponges whenever there is a visible build up of product, but I must admit that I put it off longer than I should sometimes too.

I have become accustomed to using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo for cleaning my brushes and sponges as it does a good job at cleansing them without stripping them or making them have any sort of residue leftover. I would definitely recommend it, it’s a good and cheap option!

I wash my BB every time after use. I either use the BB cleanser that comes with the BB, or Daiso brush and sponge cleanser $2.80

i have much the same routine as Bun. I have to be really on top of cleaning my brushes and blender because my skin will start to break out or react otherwise. I didn’t know the microwave trick, so I will try that!

Oh wow Bun – you have just given me a wake-up call! , I don’t wash my makeup blender or brushes nearly that much, I don’t wear makeup alot but I probably should wash things a bit more thoroughly by the sounds of it.

I wouldn’t use makeup tools for any longer than a week without cleaning if you are worried about getting germs on your face.

I clean my BB every time I use it instead of just dampening it I give it a wash before I use it. I wash by BB using a ordinary soap bar (the normal kind without any moisturizers) and it gets everything out. And I sanitize it by putting it in a bowl of water in the microwave for 30 seconds (about once a month). Be careful squeezing the water out, it is VERY HOT.

I give my brushes a spritz with alcohol and rub them on a microfibre towel or rotate them out once a week. And end up giving them a deep clean every couple of months. I wash my brushes with the Daiso puff and sponge cleaner and swirl them on a brush cleaning pad to get all the product out.
