I don’t think fad diets are healthy. A balanced diet and excersise is what you need.

Its such an interesting topic, in the industry we steer clear of ‘fad diets’ because there is no scientific evidence to support them and when it comes to positive health behaviour change it’s all about promoting a lifestyle which is sustainable long-term, which most fad diets simply aren’t sustainable.

Nutritional needs change as we age, and even within the same life stage they vary from one person to the next based on many variables, that’s why it’s so important to seek individual advice. Start with your doctor who can always refer you to a dietician, this may be covered somewhat by Medicare if it’s part of a care plan. If seeing a dietician is still not affordable at the moment and you have a condition where you can not eat carbs (are you diabetic?) I would suggest you increase your healthy fats (nuts, oily fish) as you may simply not be getting enough to support weight loss. The type of protein you are consuming may be a factor too. If you are young the 5-2 diet might actually be detrimental for you and certainly not sustainable for you.

A lot of people have some success with the 5-2 diet, which is reasonable. But if you want to lose weight, CSIRO has pretty well researched programs.

And if you have a condition, why not ask if your gp can refer you to a dietician under the Chronic Care management plan?

I don’t believe on size fits all with diets… Find what works for you and go with it… Like Paleo is one that doesn’t work for me… Too much animal products and I’m snoozing in the corner!!! Ha ha!!! Same with mini meals during the day… Not filling and I can’t be bothered to eat all day long… Ha ha!!! Find an eating pattern that works for you and go for it!!!

Totally agree with this personally I have a condition where I can’t eat carbs so most of the fad diets are out of question but I think it is defiantly what works for you and just really just trying to make the most healthy choice

I’m not on any diet as I don’t need to lose weight. I eat healthy with the right foods & drinks that is the best way to go. Making sure you have plenty of fruit, Vegetables, Meat, Dairy etc. You get the point. It’s all good for body & yourself & it will show on the outside + cutting out sugar’s is a bonus in all product’s as that is not good for you.
