Weight Loss Surgery – is anyone considering or have had surgery?

My doctor has recommended weight loss surgery (WLS) for obesity as I have structural problems in my spines facet joints – I was pre Olympic Weighlifter in training over 35 years – EEK! Also have metabolic and medication related weight gain. Any one else thinking about it or had it? Thanks for sharing.

Well, I didn’t think about it globally, but thoughts about it came. I don’t know, the operation is the last way to get rid of weight. Diets and sports will not make you wait a long time. And if you want to lose weight even faster, you can buy medications for weight loss https://www.canadapharmacy.com/products/ozempic and combine them with the above methods

Say “no” to surgery! Weight loss occurs when you create a calorie deficit over time (read this https://betterme.world/articles/7-day-military-diet-plan/ ). Your body can throw up some road blocks to resist; lower the metabolism for awhile, that sort of thing, but over time, the key is to create a calorie deficit reliably, every week, and most days of every week.

You can create a calorie deficit by moving more, or by eating less, or both.

Hey, @Frenchy1 – I’m glad you’re back. I’ve been going to bump this thread for about a week, but I figured it would soon get lost & you wouldn’t see it. How are you going?

    Well done Frenchy

Thanks Okatko and TD for replying. I’m nearly 4 weeks in and predictably weight loss is slowing as it should. I don’t want to shock myself!!! At 9kg down from surgery day. Getting to try more foods but protein as food is tricky to digest. Still relying a bit on protein shakes and marine and bovine collagen powders to get my 60-80 grams of protein. Vegetarian sources like chickpeas etc are great for fibre but filling for the low protein they offer. Vegetarian gastric sleeve surgery people must really struggle without supplements. There are some really good vege protein shakes like Eimiele and Nourish that are dietician approved so stocked up with them. I’ve dropped a dress size and am feeling well and a bit more energetic. I’ll continue to update. Under 120kg feels good!!!

Wow you seem to be doing very well. Congratulations. It is always difficult to stick to a diet and what you are doing is pretty good.

Another kilo & a whole dress size! Good one, Frenchy! I’m glad you’ve got more energy now.

Thanks for the progress update frenchy1, it sounds very positive.

8kgs down Frenchy is fantastic! It sounds like a massive adjustment and also a lifestyle change as well. You are still in the healing phase so things will have to be taken slowly for a while and I bet once you can walk further and without a walker you will start to feel both physically and mentally better.

Hey, Frenchy: are you onto soft foods yet? How are you going?

    • 2 yrs, 5 mths ago

Hey darling M8. Yes experimenting with mashed and soft foods with some success and some foods not going down well. Up they come. So no eating out! This resolves as my stomach heals and I get used to smaller quantities. Two and a half weeks and 8 kilos down. So no complaints there! In 6-8 weeks I’ll adapt when all food (most) is tolerable. This is def not the easy way out though. Although my appetite is greatly reduced I’m up for a frustrating adjustment period. I am walking and trying to increase my distances (with a Walker.) All good. Keeping my spirits up. Admit I wouldn’t have found this thread myself so thanks!!!

8kg down in 2 weeks is fantastic, Frenchy! It sounds tough, but you’ve got a very positive attitude, so you’ll go well!

Yay – that’s great to hear, Frenchy! Down 5kg already? OMG! I’m glad to hear that you’re healing well. ❤

Thanks TrackyDacky no worries! I’m finding it hard to navigate the new site and if I didn’t have time on my hands I would have given up by now. Giving me the s****! I think a lot of beauties might want to abandon BH if things don’t improve. I’m particularly disappointed I don’t trust doing reviews as they may get lost (one did so waste of time not re doing it!) I’ll continue to do my weight loss updates for now.

Hi Frenchy, so sorry I didn’t wish you luck on your surgery, I haven’t been on the site that much since it reopened as I found it hard to search for different forum topics and find things. Glad to see you made it through and are home. The hard and scary part is over and now it’s one day at a time. Take things slowly while you heal and looking forward to your updates.

Thanks Lucy16. Mao gives good ‘dead eye’ looks – she’s old and grumpy.
