How to ptotect tour family in flu season

Dear, flu season again, my whole family got flu , specially my poor 10 months old baby. I use the natural essencial oil peperment in vibrator in the room which can help a bit to clear the noise. Anymore idea to heal?

I think it is very important not to overheat the rooms. The baby needs it a little warmer, of course.

Gee, it has been a shocking flu season this year, and they reckon it’s not over yet. We have been camped out bush for months, now that we are back in town I hope and cross fingers that we don’t catch it. Take care everyone.

I swear by the homeopathic remedy ANAS BARB 200C.

Some health food shop sells them . or you can order online or from a homeopath. you take it weekly or fortnightly as a preventative but also when your coming down with something you take like 3 pillules straight away.

They are little sugar pillules and you can crush them between two spoons for little kids. I put it under my tonuge and let it dissolve. You cant eat them 10 mins either side of food and drink or teeth cleaning.

In the 15+ years I’ve been doing this I never have had full strength flu’s like i did in my 20’s. If I catch it in time I might feel off for 3 days max. and not bad enough to take anything else. Just under the weather. the kids have kept well from it too but they don’t seem to mention they are starting to come down with something quick enough to me to completely stop it in its tracks

Crushed garlic or garlic granuals in everything possible & green tea.
Since doing these two things I have only had the flu once in 3 years.
I used to get it twice a year

Garlic is truly a health wonder! My family plenty consuming a predominantly mediterranean diet. Will have to up my green tea consumption though.

I’ll give a rec for a supplement called BioCeuticals ArmaForce. You can get it cheapest from Chemist Warehouse.
The doctor mother’s at my uppity private all girls school used to give this as a preventative measure for their kids during QCS tests…and I figured if it passes their bar it must be alright.
It has saved me from getting sick a few times I think, and is meant to shorten duration of colds also.

Flu season is here early this year and its nasty. My heart goes out to mums with sick children and it seems to go through families and lasts weeks sometimes.
We eat a very nourishing diet with loads of fruit and veg and dishes loaded with garlic and herbs. We are particular with hygiene , washing hands, covering our mouths and not sharing towels etc if unwell.
Loads of fresh fruit smoothies are such a great way to boost immune systems and so is plain fresh air 🙂
My youngest son was very unwell and after the flu was left with a constant irritating cough that was lingering months later resulting in no sleep for him. As a last resort he had acupuncture, it worked immediately and really was a miracle treatment for him.

That’s horrible 🙁 mine is only so good because I increased my muscle mass. The more muscle you have the better your immunity. I haven’t weightlifted in 1 1/2yrs but still don’t catch anything. Everyone around me was sick all the time whem I was pregnant and i only had a cold for two days, super lucky. I used to get chest infections , bronchitis or tonsillitis after getting a cold.

Sorry my mistake. I had it mixed up with HIB. We can immunise from 6 months. The last couple of years I’ve had minor colds but I don’t remember ever having the flu. Just super nasty colds and chest infections.

Ahh you`re lucky. I have a very bad immune system so am constantly sick from march till October every year.

  • I hope your baby is ok, please don’t take any risks my son ended up spending 10 days in hospital when he was 18 months with influenza A and parainfluenza, it is truly awful.
He was so sick he didn’t flinch when they had multiple attempts to get a needle in him for fluids as he was severely dehydrated.

I’m sorry that my description was graphic but when people actually have the flu it is really awful.

Just double check I’m not sure if it varies in states, however in SA the flu shot isn’t part of the immunisation schedule for babies, if you wish to have your child immunised against the flu you need to see your GP for 2 x half dose injections.

Ensuring you keep hydrated is a start, really encourage regular fluids, keep on the regular paracetamol (unless medical reasons dictate otherwise) to help try and bring the temperature down.
Definitely don’t be afraid to seek medical attention especially if there are changes in breathing, heart rate, conscious state, the temperature continues to be elevated, or your in anyway concerned.

Good basic hygiene, hand washing after coughing, blowing noses etc etc

Nsw doesn’t give flu vaccine to kids as part of the immunisation schedule either.
