PMS – how to control it?

I am sure all women some how experiences PMS close to their menstruation or during the mensus. But is there any suggestions on how to control it? I tend to become awfully moody and horrible to my husband during this time and I always blame it on PMS (funnily enough). I used to take evening primose oil..but that helped mainly with the cramps.

It sounds crazy, but when I have soy products and banana`s in my diet, my PMT seems to be more subdued. I`m also pre-menopausal (which is fun), and keep some Remifem in my bathroom cabinet!

Regular exercise and some supplements like Evening Primrose Oil helps. I suffer from PMS since i was a teenager and used to rely on strong pain killer. My GP recommended Evening Primrose Oil and regular exercise and it works! I no longer have those crazy cramps that i couldn`t move around anymore.

Primrose evening oil. My GP suggested it to me. Start taking it 5 days before your cycle starts and go on during the menstrual period.

Hi Swooping! Have you tried Vitex? It`s a herbal medicine made of 100% dry extract of chaste berry. I have used Blackmores but I think you can find other brands from a health shop but my friends who have been using it for quite some time said Blackmores is good. It says to take 1-3 tablets per day but I only take 1 and I was quite happy with the results.
I have imbalanced hormones and do suffer from PMS. I sometimes get depressed, cramps and gets really grumpy once a month and Vitex helped a lot! It actually gave me a boost of energy as well and I noticed that my disposition improved while taking it. My friends said you`ll see best results if taken for 3 mos consecutively but I was only able to use it for 2 months and saw an improvement already. The only problem is that you can`t use it if you`re using contraceptive pills as it will affect the effectivity of it. I also had a blood test while using it and amazingly my hormone levels registered normal! Do let us know if ever you decide to try it and hopefully it will work for you as well! Take care! 🙂

Evening Primrose Oil is a really good one for PMS. If you are unlucky enough to get sore Boobs in the lead up it helps for that too.

lately my PMS has been really horrible.
things aren`t too great in my life as it is, but now I have to deal with PMS which makes things so much harder.

I feel so incredibly sad and this horrible crushing aching hollow feeling all through my body, but mostly in my chest. it makes it difficult to get moving.
and I am so irritable and sensitive. and I can`t stop eating.

does anyone have any advice? 🙁

I have noticed that as I get older, my PMS is getting worse. I have ordered some vitamins through my chemist to help settle it, but any suggestions would be good for me too!

Perhaps you could go to a chemist and ask what they recommend for it too? Are you taking any contraception? I find sometimes (depending on what you are taking), that can affect PMS too.

My PMS cure is sex! As long as you orgasm.
You`ve been going through so much lately, no wonder your PMS is amped up a notch. Remember that this is circumstantial, regarding the recent job situation, plus hormonal. Both of these things will pass.

This thread caught my eye as I suffer from PMS too, have it right now in fact 🙂 I feel as though my patience levels and ability to cope with stress are really low at these times, like I`m ready to snap very easily. I heard that Krill Oil is supposed to help, I have bought the Omega-Gen Neptune Krill Oil tablets (available from pharmacies incl. Chemist Warehouse), but I think you have to take them continually so it builds up in your system.

I might try some aromatherapy since I have some oils at home.Good tip.
