Celebrity Slim

Hi beauties ! Wondering if any of you out there have tried Celebrity Slim or any meal replacement shakes?

I have purchased two tubs of CS RAPID which are meant to be more effect than the original. I am meant to have these 3 times a day and a balanced dinner but NO snacking in between, not even fruit!

Anyone who has tried this, please let me know how you went!

I’m looking to lose around 10kgs so I can get ready for summer.

Hi there, I have had a similar issue. I tried the rapid slim for 1 week but only lost 0.5 kg! What kind of exercise is required and how much to successfully lose 3kg in a week which is what a lot of people I found have done!? Hope someone can relate and help! x

If you want to loose weight.. try Atkins Diet! Its the best.. plus their food plan is really delicious!!! i started it, and i can’t move back to normal food, because the diet plans involves all the yummy fruits.. salads.. chicken stakes, even beef, but NO CARBOHYDRATES!!!!!

Please stop putting spam links at the bottom of all of your posts. It is annoying and offensive to other forum members.

The way it was explained to me is that zero carb diets such as the Atkins diet work by turning off the body’s perception of hunger. If you completely eliminate carbohydrates from your diet, the body ceases to generate signals to say that it is hungry.

Even though the diet says that you can eat anything else, the lack of carbs means that you end up eating very little (because you eat habitually), or you completely forget to eat at all. That’s why, after a certain period, you have to re-introduce carbs to turn back on the body’s ability to create hunger signals.

If you stay on a “no carbs” diet too long, you will bypass anorexia and go straight to organ failure. I lost a friend a few years ago due to a combination of that and alcohol dependence. 🙁

Ultimately you will either a., put all the weight back on once you are off it, or b., your body will break down if you continue on it.

In regards to low-carb diets, they are probably the most stupidest diets ever thought up. Carbohydrates are an ESSENTIAL nutrient. Essential meaning your body will ultimately fail if you’re not eating enough of it. Kind of like saying you’re going on a ‘low calcium diet’ and not expecting to get osteoporosis.

Diets like CS are definitely a short-term only thing. You shouldn’t be on it for too long. You do consume some carbs while on it but not very much.

My approach now is to eat carbs, but have them in moderation. For weight loss it’s a good idea to have nice healthy carbs for breakfast and lunch then avoid or only have a small amount in the evenings. Be conscious of the need to fuel your body for exercise too. Avoid “white” processed carbs where possible and have wholegrain, low GI ones instead.

I had to do research on CS when I was studying personal training.
It’s an extremely unhealthy diet – yes, it will make you lose weight, but so will the grapefruit diet – doesn’t mean it’s good for you.

Low-carb diets make you lose weight because you’re essentially cutting out a major food group.. it’s the same as saying you’ll lose weight if you cut out dinner. Sure it works, but doesn’t exactly mean it’s healthy.

Chels is right – food based plans work the best. Just feed your body what it needs.

I went on Celebrity Slim with my BF a few years ago. Honestly, I wouldn’t do it again. It’s quite hard on the body. It works on the principle of low-carb dieting. When you follow the diet correctly your body goes into ketosis – where your metabolism starts burning your own body fat stores. Look up “ketosis” on wikipedia for a better explanation. Anyway, the first week is REALLY hard because there are side effects to ketosis. I had body aches, felt super lethargic, headachy and my god I was starving the whole time. Even after my real-food meal every evening. Some people get bad breath while in ketosis as well. I also got really sick of shakes! Although they do soups and bars too.

If you’re going to do it, I’d recommend having your actual food meal at lunch and do breakfast and dinner shakes/soups if you can. I think that would’ve worked better for me. Make sure you’re organised with the correct healthy snacks ready to go and read the book in the starter kit to help you cook low-carb meals. Some of the recipes were tasty, I remember.

I did lose weight on this diet. I lost about 3.5 kg in the first week (crazy!) then averaged between 1-2 kg a week after that. I did it for about 6 weeks then eased back into a healthy, normal diet. This is where the trap is though… making sure you don’t go back to old unhealthy ways after you’ve finished with Celebrity Slim.

I’ve tried them too. I lasted a week and then just couldn’t look at another shake. I’ve just signed up for the Michelle Bridges 12 Week weight loss program. I know quite a few people who have lost weight on it.

    Hi Kaaayte

I’ve tried the regular Celebrity Slim, I did find they work but unfortunately I have little to no willpower and last about 3 days! Also I prefer food to food replacement – I personally do better on food based plans.

If you can hack the lack of variety, you’ll do great! Good luck!
