Here is a mani that I did today using gold holographic nail art foils. The base colour I used is purple but after applying the nail art foil, it now looks more like burgundy. I bought the holographic nail art foils as a pack of 16 different designs each on a strip 20cm long. Each strip is sufficient to do 20 nails and at only a couple of dollars for the pack, definitely worth the price off EBay :).

Absolutely beautiful, Arty Girl. Hope you are well. It`s lovely seeing your gorgeous nails (and you) again.

Thanks Trish. Yes, I am in better health than other members of my family so I count my blessings. Even when I`m told that I have to have a tooth out or in 5 years time I`ll need a cataract operation, I think of the people who are medically worse off than me so still aim to look on the bright side. I find that it`s all about one`s attitude to life that determines one`s inner happiness :).

      Looks gorgeous, Arty!

Thanks misfortune8. Applying these nail art foils are just so easy !!! Way easier than water decals if you have the right nail foil adhesive.

I love this, you have such beautiful nail`s- Arty Girl.

      • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

Thanks Goddess. It took ages to get them to this length which is why you haven`t been seeing me. When I get lazy and skip my nightly cuticle oil routine, my nails suffer badly :(. I might try keeping nail polish on my nails more regularly even if it is just a clear top coat because I read that it helps locking the moisture in the nails thus preventing them from drying out.

It`s great seeing your nails again, Arty. I love the design of the foils.

      • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

Thanks Indie . There are 15 other designs in the gold holographic nail foil range; all just as pretty as each other :).

      • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

Can`t wait to see them on your nails, Arty 🙂

I hope you’ve had a wonderful birthday, Arty Girl, Wishing you a year with as much beauty as you give. Happy Birthday.

Thank you Trish_D and to all the other Beauty Heaven Members who gave me Birthday Wishes on my birthday.

This year it was combined with Valentine`s Day to make my birthday extra special. I was treated to a 4 course Valentine`s Day dinner and spent the night at a lovely hotel.

OHHHHHH WOW, Arty Girl, that`s super. Sounds perfect!! I`m only seeing your response now after returning from a lovely but no internet holiday.

So pleased you were spoilt as you deserve to be!

      • 4 yrs, 12 mths ago

        Hi Trish,

I`m so happy to see a response from you. I know I haven`t been on Beauty Heaven as regularly as I used to in the past but other commitments take up my time now especially as all the people close to me (as well as myself of course. Lol !!!) are getting older. As we`re getting older, we`re having to spend more time either attending medical appointments ourselves and/or driving other family members who can`t drive to them.

      • 4 yrs, 12 mths ago

I understand completely, Arty Girl. Life gets in the way of lots of things at times, doesn`t it!

  • 5 yrs, 2 mths ago

Thanks for this beautiful tutorial. Especially I enjoy the idea of the foil and it looks superb over the green strip color.

    • 5 yrs, 1 mth ago

You`re very welcome Shomadhan :). Sorry for the late reply but I regularly go “”AWOL”” or “”MIA”” as some of the regular BH Members here know. LOL !!!

It`s been a while since I had my nails at the above pictured length and this morning I cut them really short. I received my new nail foils for Christmas but I haven`t had a chance to use them yet. Also, my SD Card in my camera is playing up so I won`t be able to post any more pics until I buy a new one :(.

      • 5 yrs, 1 mth ago

Arty Girl you go AWOL or MIA? I would never have known that lol. It is good to see you come on though 🙂

My nails decided to play up last month….it was a stressful time though but they are just starting to get good growth in them now. Will start up with hardener first and do the oil on the cuticles too.

Hope you can buy a new SD card soon though.

      • 5 yrs, 1 mth ago

The only reason mine “”play up”” is when I become lax in my nightly nail care routine and don`t massage cuticle oil into my nails for a few days. Then when my nails and cuticles become dry to the point of my cuticles looking ragged, it takes much longer with nightly care to get them back into good condition.

It was only recently that I pondered the amount of time I spend each day cleansing and applying various skin care products to my face (morning and night), looking after my nails and well as tending to my feet. To be honest, it can be anything from 1 – 2 hrs (cumulative). I`m not including the occasions I dye my hair, use my Scholl Electric Pedi File or wax. And it`s all in the name of vanity. LOL !!!

I wonder if there will come a day when I completely stop all my various beauty routines because I just can`t be bothered anymore ? But while I still get compliments from the opposite sex despite my mature years, this day isn`t coming any time soon ; ). LOL !!!

      • 5 yrs, 1 mth ago

Lovely to “”see you”” again, Arty Girl. I don`t believe you`re vain and I applaud your dedication to your beauty routines!!!!

      • 5 yrs, 1 mth ago

Trish_D, I`m sure that you are just as dedicated too :).

In fact, I think that any women who are on Beauty Heaven, review and love trialing beauty products must naturally be dedicated to their beauty routines. LOL !!!

Picture Polish Revolution is a great foil top coat as well as a glitter base coat! And it’s Australian so that’s nice, too.

  • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

That’s an incredibly sensible idea of carrying a cuticle pen with you, Arty Girl. So simple and sensible but I’d never even thought about it. Do you mind me asking where you got the cuticle pen?

    • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Trish, apart from hand cream, nail polish and cuticle oil/balm, I get all my other stuff from EBay. The cuticle oil pens are $1 but cheaper when bought in packs. I bought mine in a pack of 10 or 12 which worked out less than a $1 each. The oils came in different fragrances and I ticked the “”Free Postage”” box on EBay too. The cuticle oil pens are so cheap that you can give the spare ones as thoughtful gifts too :).

I buy my nail polish remover pens this way too.

The only disadvantage is that you need to wait 2-3 weeks to receive the item.

Mind you, if you don`t want to wait that long and are willing to pay more, it might be offered on “”Click and pickup”” where it is sent to a store like Big W to pick up from.

Thanks so much for this information, Arty Girl. You are so helpful and it is definitely appreciated,

  • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Thanks so much ArtyGirl. Your tutorial is fantastic and easy to follow. The results are stunning! The green base really works as well. Nice to see you back in the forums too 😉

    • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Thanks freaky :); though I don`t recall your Username. LOL !!! Do I know you by some other Username perhaps ?

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

No, I`ve always been Freaky haha! This reminds me, at BH events when I introduce myself and say I`m Freaky, you should see the confused looks I get!!

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Great Username freaky !!! I`m sure you chose it specifically to get that reaction. LOL !!!

Here in my Nail Foil Mani today; after 2 days. I applied this on the 5th Nov; the afternoon that I posted this tutorial. I am very impressed on how this feels to touch and how it is lasting as opposed to other nail foil manis that I have done in the past.
So this is what I did in steps :

    1. 1 coat of an “Essence Base Coat “(the white one that goes matte when it dries) to bare clean nails.
    2. 2 coats of a Sinful Colors Cream Nail polish (“Exotic Green” used here )
    3. 1 coat of Nail Foil Adhesive and let it turn clear completely
    4. Apply the Nail Art Foil.
    5. 1 coat of the supplied Clear Top (manufacturer’s brand “Star Glue”). Let dry completely.
    6. 1 coat of Quick Dry Top Coat (Any Brand but make sure you seal the edges of the nail. Let dry at least 1 minute.
    7. 1 coat of Quick Dry Drops

OMG that is gorgeous Arty Girl – I do love green – that looks very summery too.

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Now that I`ve discovered a way of making nail art foils last longer on my nails, I`ll be using nail art foils more often. They are much simpler to use than full nail water decals because the foils don`t need to be cut to match the shape of the nail. One just needs to ensure that the whole of the nail is covered with nail foil adhesive or the nail foil won`t stick to it.

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Now I just need to get all my nails growing and the same length. The only nails that grow well are my thumb nails at the moment. Must spend more time with them I think. Love your nails Arty Girl

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Thanks jatz :). I notice that my nails grow quicker with the onset of warmer weather. I carry a cuticle oil “”pen”” in my handbag and whenever I`m a passenger in a bus, car or train, I do my cuticle oil and massage to nails routine then. It is a good and beneficial way to use the time.

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

I think that`s what I`m going to have to do. I paint my nails with hardener etc and once they get to a certain height they are really hard but then I will snap one somewhere along the line. Medical ailments also seem to upset them at the moment but I will get there.

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

I have clear top coats which contain nail hardener but I have never needed to use those yet. My nails are quite hard naturally anyway which is why applying cuticle oil nightly is important. Not only does it keep my cuticles and skin around my nails in top condition and encourage nail growth by the massage action, it also keeps my nails from being dry and brittle; the reason they snap off easily if I don`t use cuticle oil regularly.

I advise you stop painting your nails with hardener once your nails are at the desired hardness and just use the cuticle oil.

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Thanks Arty Girl – will try that. My thumb nails are really hard and they are the strongest.

  • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Thanks for sharing!! Excellent tutorial. Really love the colour and foil you chose, it’s gorgeous and perfect for summer.

    • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

You`re welcome darasparkle :). Btw, I “”splurged”” and ordered more nail art foils from EBay. I don`t mind waiting the length of time for them to arrive from Hong Kong or China because they are so cheap and you can`t buy them this way in stores in Australia anyway. I am buying a set of 16 nail art foils of different patterns , each 4cm x 20cm long and paying a total price of $1.10. I`ve ordered about 3 or 4 different sets and will be very excited when I receive them. It gives me something to look forward to in the post too. LOL !!!

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Ooh looking forward to seeing the foils you chose (once you receive them)! Great splurge hehe 😀

  • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

This is awesome! They look so good! Thanks for the time and effort you put in to this, it’s really helpful for people like me who are useless at nails.

    • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

You are welcome *Lizabella”” :). I get so much from being a Member of Beauty Heaven; useful information, tips and free trial products too that I feel that I need to give back when I can. Plus I enjoy doing so too :).
