Nail Conditioners

What would you recommend for Nail Conditioners!

As I tend to wear Nail Polish and I use good brand nail polish, such as Sally Hansen base coat and top coat, but I find that they dry my nails out and they split and go very brittle.

Therefore I need to remove them and use a moisturising polish remover as well.
But to no avail my nails are thin and brittle at times.

I always have a spare one on hand so I don`t run out, they`re also great for travelling or you can just have in your handbag. Keeps nails and cuticles nourished.

I take a Swisse supplement for hair skin and nails and have also taken Q Silica which helps with nail growth, I also use a Body Shop Almond oil nail pen which conditions nails and cuticles.

Margi59, Burt’s Bees makes a product called Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème, and it receives good reviews. Don’t think that you have to buy a commercial nail care product. You can use something like jojoba oil, almond oil, rosehip oil etc for your nails and cuticles.

I have very fragile nails that break easily. My nails do not tolerate some mainstream brands with more harsh chemicals. My nails are much better if I use nail polishes, nail polish remover etc from brands that formulate products with less harsh chemicals. (So far, there is no such thing as nail polish without man-made/synthetic chemicals.)

Mainstream nail polish removers can really strip the moisture from my nails, but they are much better if I use a remover such as Fresh Therapies Nail Polish Remover or a soy-based remover from another brand. I also highly recommend that you use a crystal nail file which is not so harsh on fragile nails.

There are an increasing lot of brands making nail polishes that are kinder to nails:

Also, look out for some great indie nail polish brands that are not so well-known.

You may also wish to take a supplement for hair, nails and skin from brands such as Blackmores. Many people claim that biotin is beneficial for healthier nails.

If you have a facial oil you haven’t been reaching for I’d definitely give it a go in your cuticles and nails, I’ve used a few oils on mine with good effect.

Thank You cityglenda for your reply and for your advice much appreciated have thought about buying Sally Hansen 7 in 1 nail conditioner maybe that might help.

Will definitely consider that I may also need a Calcium Supplement.

I have been applying Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream for years plus I use hand cream often thought the day and then I apply a heavier cream when I go to bed.
My Mum uses Revitanail Hand & Nail Cream but I just use whatever I have in the cupboard at the time.
You might try getting more Calcium in your diet or taking a supplement.
