How often do you wash your hands?

There is a Dove Hand Wash TV ad currently running claiming we wash out hands 7 times per day.
I’ve been thinking about that statistic and I reckon I would wash my hands about 7 times before lunchtime: Before eating, drinking, after visiting the toilet and handling something dirty.
I have an office job and I was wondering how many times other people wash their hands. Obviously if you work in hospitality you would be washing your hands more often.

Good question. I have had a background in working with food, so I wash my hands probably 6 times or more when preparing foods. I wash my hands a lot for work too as I’m handling aged care equipment and no doubt it’s quite germy. Some people have different standards of hygiene too. I have a hand wash dispenser in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry. Collectively I probably wash my hands at least 20 times or more day.

I would hate to keep count. I always have my hands in and out of water. Washing my hands all the time. I guess that is why I have to keep moisturizing them.

Ditto here. I purchase my moisturisers in twin pump packs because I use it often.

Well since posting this thread, I’ve worked out that I wash my hands more often than going to the Ladies room.
Perhaps the advertiser was only counting washing your hands after visiting the bathroom or before eating.

I saw that ad and immediately thought ‘That can’t be’ and then ended washing my hands 10 times before the ad finished, but with 2 kids and a dog what can you expect?!

When I saw that ad for the first time, I started thinking about the number of times I washed my hands that day.

Surely more than 7 times? Everytime you go to the rest room, wash your mug after your cuppa…it all counts.

I find when I am cooking or preparing things in the kitchen, I wash my hands after each food item or if my hands get sticky with something.

Also having a dog and am always patting her, I do wash my hands more often.

Very interesting that an ad would underestimate the number of times we wash our hands. I would have washed 7 times within the first 5 hours of a day. If I remember I will tally it tomorrow and let you know!

I work in healthcare and I wash my hands literally every 5 minutes and do an 8 hours shift. I wash before and after each patient. After touching any items or equipment. My hands are dry and cracked because of this. I imagine nurses and doctors would be the same. At home I wash them much less but still maybe a dozen times a day. My poor hands
