Dry hands in winter! :(

Hey guys, for about the past 2 years, every time winter rolls around, I find myself experiencing extremely dry hands to the point where it is painful. If anyone has some good, hydrating hand creams, please recommend them and I’ll be sure to give them a go!

I have the same dilemma but overcome these problems I maintain some tips. You can also follow these methods that I have given below

    1. Wash your hands as little as possible.
    2. Avoid hand sanitizers containing alcohol.
    3. Protect yourself with rubber gloves.
    4. Moisturize regularly.
    5. Use rich creams to battle hand eczema.
    6. Vaseline works wonders.
    7. Heal your hands while you sleep.

Hope these tips will help you to keep your hand skin moisturizing.

For me I find that the Aesop hand creams work a dream! They are a bit on the pricey side but even a small amount goes a long way, so you end up getting your moneys worth. At the moment I am using the Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm.

I use the Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream and it’s really good, you might want to give it a go!

This is not a recommendation for a hand cream but I suppose it is in relation to the topic.

I’m currently holidaying in England and I’ve noticed everywhere I go – shopping centres, pubs, restaurants, etc. – the ladies’ toilets are not only equipped with delightful smelling soaps but also hand creams. It’s lovely being able to reapply hand cream after every wash while out and about.

Like many others in this thread my hands regularly crack and bleed from excessive dryness, particularly during the winter time. Although a fantastic hand cream is key here there have been lots of great recommendations already so I will leave that one alone.

I will say though, put a hand cream that comes in a pump dispenser next to every sink in the house and use it every single time you wash your hands. Even if it’s not the best hand cream in the world it will make a huge difference!

I have also found that switching from using a normal hand wash to something that is moisturising and soap free has made a difference for me. I’ve used QV gentle wash and QV moisturising cleanser to great success as well as Dermaveen soap free wash. I buy the bulk 1 litre containers and just transfer what I need into a normal hand wash pump dispenser.

I have the same problem, my hands get dry, itchy and sometimes bleed from dryness and I have tried so many different types of creams.
I actually received the skin physics advanced superlift hand and nail renewal cream today to trial for 6 weeks part of the skin physics team. I will let you know how it goes. Anything is worth a try.

There just be multiple hand cream threads flaoting around. I thought I commented on this one but I didn’t! Must have been on another thread.

Anyway. The most heavy duty ones are: Plunketts NS Working hands (really thick, fast absorbing and cheap, discovered from BH) and L’Occitane 25%shea. The 25% is new. Old one was 20%

Aveeno works best for me. If you found that it’s too oily, you can apply it at night before sleep. I wash my hand very often and this keep my skin soft and hydrated.

I started using Vaseline Intensive Care Hand Cream (in the pink tube) a couple of years ago and and have never looked back. I can’t stand sticky or greasy hands and this moisturiser just soaks right in. It’s also super reasonably priced (around $2.00 from memory) and found in supermarkets and chemist’s.

Weleda Skin Food I mainly use it at night as it can be a bit greasy when you first apply it. It can also be used as an all over body moisturiser.

My dad has very dry cracked hands and they sometimes bleed. He’s been using an Aveeno Hand cream, the neutrogena one is meant to be quite good too.
