Paraffin Wax for Hands

Hi my beautiful BH girls

Just wondering if any of you have used Paraffin Wax treatment on your hands before?

My hands look a tad old and dry…and I heard that paraffin wax can be really good for this.

Can you buy it in lets say Priceline? or is it treatment in a salon/spa only?

I know that this is an older thread, but I`ve just started looking at paraffin wax treatments for dry hands and feet, weak nails and arthritic pain.

I`ve been hearing good things but am confused by all the different types of warmers and waxes.

Did anyone here end up getting / trying one?

I`ve reported the previous post as spam. I did a Google search and the company is based overseas.

I had this done last week and my hands felt so soft and smooth after it. Parafin is great for people with dry skin.

they do wax baths at podiatrists as treatments for things like chilblains or even extremely dry skin. it gives a really gentle warmth which not only helps with blood supply but also acts to lock moisture in. I wouldn`t bother doing it at home, not only is it pretty messy but the wax should be disposed of after a single use for hygiene purposes and if you warm the wax too much you can seriously burn yourself.

I have one of these machines at home… They are great to add some nourishment back into your hands… For extra boost rub hand moisteriser on your hands before dipping into wax…
Haven`t done a treatment in ages, thanks for reminding me girls 🙂 xox xox xox

Hmm, well not sure about buying in price line, But its mainly a Salon Treatment and you dont just apply it straight on your skin as it would be an absolult pain to get it off. Basically you get a moisturizing lotion or even a penetrating oil all over your hands, then test the temp. Dip your hand, (or you can even brush it on) with your fingers slightly apart, then you dip about 3-5 times then wrap your hands in plastc or use plastic mitts for 5-10 minutes…. really great for arthristist, reducing fine lines and also restoring moisture

You ladies made me curious and I found an interesting point someone said about the treatments, which makes more sense as to how they work:

“”The paraffin itself does not enter the skin because the molecules are too large. It is my understanding that the paraffin heat causes increased circulation and opened pores and the paraffin itself creates a barrier and encourages the body`s own moisture to be re-absorbed by the superficial layers of the skin, end enhances absorption of any lotions or creams applied to the skin before the paraffin application.””

    Taken from http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-paraffin-wax-treatments.htm

Personally I`d still be cautious as it does create a barrier on your skin… what about lotions or creams applied after the treatment?
