Thick, long, curly, frizzy hair!!

Yes the title says it all…. I have all of these problems which always keep asking myself…WHY???? I honestly cannot stand it. When i see other people able to do their hair the way they want it, it works for them…but as for me…lets just say 2 hours of styling doesnt go along way. I was hoping if anyone knows a good product or various products that help this problem…and no i dont wish to cut my hair(unless trim of course) :)…thoughts are appreciated!!

I have really coarse thick crazy hair – its like a horses tail
In summer i dont even bother with straighteners as it takes so long – that i melt before my hair is done and then the humidity ruins one side whilst i am working on the other
Summer hair is up and winter hair is occasionally done
    Love everyones comments here
I am going to read them over and over and try and get some great tips xx
    thanks all xxx

I know this is a really old thread but want to rant about this as I have this hair type…more wavy rather than curly but still frizzy and thick and worse at the back. I can understand why you didn`t want your hair cut as hairdressers like to take the easy, time saving option by using thinning scissors which don`t work with this hair type. I had a couple of great hairdressers who use to cut my hair in a way that it looked and resembled finer hair and it was also smoother the way it was cut. When those hairdressers left I went to a new hairdresser, explained the way I liked my hair to be cut and after a long consultation convinced me thinning shears/scissors would be the best way. But of course my hair was left more coarse, frizzy and sticking up and really difficult to straighten. When I went back and told her she replied “”Yes, it`s a catch 22 with the thinning shears””. I just don`t think most hairdressers get this hair type or aren`t prepared to spend the extra time, as my hair takes 45 mins to an hour to cut it the way I want.

Sweetlollipop – unless you colour your hair, I think using supermarket brands isn`t so bad, as long as you use a clarifying shampoo on a regular basis to get rid of build up. One of my friends just started using a natio shampoo and condioner which she is raving about – they`re not too expensive so could be worth a try if you`re interested.

Basically when it comes to washing your hair, the less you do it, the better condition your hair will be in. Sometimes it takes a fair bit of chopping and changing to find what products are best for your hair type, but all the hairdressers I`ve spoken to suggest you should only wash 1-2 times a week.
