I finally got around to trying this & the brand left Bh about a week before I was about to review it!

It felt very nourishing & my hair felt great afterwards. It covered my greys well & it hasn’t washed away. The tinting bowl & brush were both high quality, but the brush had a hook at the end (like a crochet hook), which kept getting caught in my long hair. There’s a plastic cape & placemat to prevent countertop stains. I wear an old bathrobe when I colour my hair, so I didn’t try the cape.

It’s only a little higher than the RRP of most other home hair colours from the chemist, but I always stock up when they’re on sale for 50% off, so The Shade works out at a little over twice what I usually pay.

I’d recommend it for those with damaged hair, but due to the price, I won’t repurchase.

Yeah the hook kept getting stuck in my hair too. They need to do “refill” packs rather than send out utensils each time. This would make it more competitively priced.

I believe the utensils only come with the first order. I already own a few tinting brushes & a bowl, but they were from a cheapie discount shop. The Shade ones were top quality!

I like to try out most new hair colour brands. I’ve been meaning to get around to trying it, but I still haven’t.

I’ve used a few different brands since being on this trial SJ and none have covered greys as well as this one. But I like being able to go to the shops and just pick whatever takes my fancy or whatever is on sale.

Just a quick update. I have now subscribed to the hair colour after participated in the trial and happy with the results. So far I had 2 more applications with my subscription and happy with it.

When I saw the notification I thought “”another spammer”” but thanks for the update SJ.

Hahaha Okatko, a year later it`s still just you and me talking (scroll back a few posts)

Haha I thought this was a “New” Trial Okatko and sj!

Haha. Yes. I realise I was reviving quite an old thread. It was a small trial too. I have used a few different ones since then but I kept wanting to come back to this (and finally I did). I really like how it is not damaging my hair like the others, and the grey coverage is good. It also has almost no smell. Even though a bit pricy it`s worth it.

By the way only the initial order comes with the application kit and cape. Subsequent orders do not come with the reusable material.

That`s great that you`ve liked the colours and results enough to return to the brand, skincare junkie. I had no idea what was happening with the posts but have caught up now!

Thanks Trish_D and freaky for your support but I did not appreciate that attack on our precious BH beauties!

Yes totally agree Trish! Very well said Tigerlily.

This would have been a good trial.

Maybe it’s only a really small trial? I don’t know about the value of this product/service when quality dye goes on sale every week at Coles or woolies. By the guide I’d need at least 2 tubes, likely 3 as I have long thick hair. The cost of 3 tubes I may as well go to a salon as I get my hair coloured, dried and styled for that price!

Very good point. I make a mention in my review of how they could lower their prices if there was an option to purchase the colour without the extra bits.
