For anyone wanting to try this Schwarzkopf Root Retoucher, it’s HALF price at Woolworths this week – only $9!

I have gone back to L’Oreal. I have decided that the big droplets that come out from the Schwartzkopf bottle which stain the tile grouting on the floor and walls of my (brand new) bathroom are not worth it.

Such a shame, as the Schwartzkopf colour and finish looks more natural on me.

Now if they can bottle the Schwartzkopf product in the L’Oreal bottle that would have been perfect.

So you`re team L`Oréal, but Kassalee is team Schwarzkopf. I`d be holding the bottle about 10cm away, so maybe I`ll be OK? I wonder.

Maybe! I saw them at the $9 mark only when on sale. Persoanlly, spraying really close makes it look solid and unnatural, so by doing it that way it loses its appeal to me (which is looking natural and blend in well). So either way, I can`t win with Schwartzkopf. In comparison, L`Oreal looks somewhat powdery whether I spray close or far, but at least there`s no mess.

P.S. I have straight hair and it looks glossy after blowdry. I suspect the results will look different on different hair types.

I hold the can about 8-10cm away, which I wouldn`t call really close. My technique (with the L`Oréal spray) is to do a split-second burst, while I move the can REALLY fast just above my part. I spray onto air-dried hair & it blends in very naturally with my hair colour/texture.

The more I hear, the more I really want to do my own side-by-side test.

        Thanks, sj!

Well done, I loved seeing The videos.

Me too. So even those the instructions said to hold it further away, I also tried holding it closer to see teh results. I found I had a bit more control holding it closer, but both ways worked for me.

Yes, misfortune8, as skincare junkie has said we were told to hold the can 10-15cm away and upright – which wasn’t easy!

I have the L’Oreal which I’d been using previously and can says the same – keep product upright – hold can approx. 10cm from hair and spray roots in a light stream….further down it says Spray at 10-15cm from your scalp.

I’ve looked on the Schwarzkopf can for their directions – finally found the “hidden” information – you peel the back label on the bottom left!

The directions on the bottle say

“Shake bottle thoroughly. Place a towel on the shoulders. Spray holding the bottle in upright position. With a distance of 10cm and a soft pressure, evenly spray onto dry and styled roots. Apply sparingly.”

Think they’re much of a muchness but I do prefer the spray of the Schwarzkopf and it’s a bigger can 120ml against 75ml (or 70g/43.2g)

I don’t think it will last anywhere up to 25 applications and I too will wait for it to be on a special before buying.

Why are instructions so hard to find Haha! You did well to see that! The nbn trial has tips to apply inside the box but you have to cut the box open to see them properly! I never would have seen this on my own!

      • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

Haha Rpear lucky to spot it with my eyesight!

Scanning the reviews (after) I noticed someone had mentioned the hidden instructions while another lamented there were no instructions!

It took me quite a while to find the video you made, all I see when I log on to BH on my pc are Jess`s eyebrows, and lovely as they are it`s getting a bit old.

I`m so glad I found the video , You did such a great job.

    • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

So you prefer Schwarzkopf? Hmm. Now I`m back to being eager to try it out. Thanks, Kassalee!

Oh, by the way, many Schwarzkopf products are made in Australia: where is the Schwarzkopf Root Retoucher spray made?

  • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

Yes I noticed this too! I also sprayed very close to my head! Less mess this way for me anyway!

  • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

I noticed on the video that everyone held the can so far away – like you’d do with a can of hairspray. When I use my L’oréal spray, I do a really quick burst along my part, just a few centimetres away.

    • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

We have specific instructions from BH staff before the videos that we HAVE TO spray from a distance of 10 or 15 cm.

Today I sprayed from a much closer distance – the colour was a lot more solid /unnatural and there were big droplets on my hand (which I used to shield my face) anyway. So I am not happy with a close distance application either!

      • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

Ah, they told you to! Still, the video looked further than that. I spray my L`oreal from about 10cm away MAXIMUM.

I`m happy with L`Oreal. Maybe I`ll give this one a go if it`s on sale.

I found I really liked this product. Covered regrowth well and didnt feel gross in my hair. I sprayed it and then combbed it trhough my hair.
It could be a bit messy, so I found I had to wipe it after straight away as the easiest way to clean it up.

It would be even better if they also had some lighter blonde shade, but as I said I think combing the dark blonde spray through my hair helped blend it well.

  • 4 yrs, 11 mths ago

Yes exactly ! I am feeling this way too! I always forget too and touch my hair or the wind blows haha

I’ve got mixed feelings about this product. I love that it covers my greys which is the main reason I wanted to try a root touch up spray more so than trying to camouflage my regrowth between salon visits. There are a few negatives such as colour getting on my fingers if I touch my hair and the fact that it makes a mess when it’s sprayed means it’s not a spray you can quickly use before rushing out the door as you need to look around to see if it’s made a mess and to ensure you clean it.
