Needing desperate hair help!!

Hi ladies. I’m needing some advice with my hair, I hope someone can help!
Okay so my hair will not stop splitting or getting breaking points through the strands.
A short history of my hair, my natural colour is blonde about three years ago I had brown hair and my friend bleached my hair a little too much which caused it to thin out and break off.
Only in the past year and a half has it started to grow back to its natural thickness (my hair is quite thick) and growing. However it is growing at absolute snails pace. Three years ago (after the bleach job) my hair was reaching a little past my collar bones, now its about mid way between shoulder and boob.
It was a silly decision on my part but I decided to go box red this year, I’m having to redye my hair every 6-8 weeks. I also should mention maybe 4-5 months ago I put a little bit of bleach through my hair to lighten the red.
The under layer of my hair is very short for some reason as well, not sure why this is happening.
Despite the dyeing which is pretty much once every two months, I do not straighten or use any heat products on my hair.
I only wash my hair once a week at the most and I try and leave coconut oil for at least a night beforehand.
A friend who was a hair dresser recommended trimming the split ends and breakage points off (which I have been doing) but they seem to grow back every week.
Things Ive been doing is trying to increase my water intake because I definitely don’t drink enough, I’ve tried taking “hairburst” vitamins but they make me feel sick.
My hair is also quite naturally frizzy and wavy, have not yet found a product that takes care of this properly.
Please help! Its really breaking down my confidence, I feel like my hair should be a lot longer than it is and its really disheartening have to trim your hair every week with no results!
Thank you 🙂

This is the same thing that happened to me! My hairs only just this year grown back, I use nak products which I buy from my hair dresser, the nak structure treatment is the best thing ever and their 60 second repair treatment, and I would definitely recommend going to a hairdresser to get it done, I used to use box dyes or mix bleach up myself and now I get it done by a hairdresser every 6 weeks and it’s amazing how much better condition my hair is and how much longer the colour lasts.

Also, do you wear your hair in a ponytail often? I wear mine in one everyday for work and I find my bits underneath are sooooo short compared to my normal hair because I’m doing my hair up to tight causing it to break off which is extremely annoying because they hang out and looks like I have a rats tail, you can get hair ties that don’t cause cause as much stress on your hair, my hair dresser sells them I’m not sure what they’re called, but that if you do that could be the reason your underneath bits are shorter, i never knew it was a real thing until my hair dresser brought it up!

I’d suggest not brusor combing your hair, use an Afro comb. Don’t tug or pull your comb through your hair, start at the bottom and work your way up slowly. It sounds crazy but it really helps

Thank you so much ladies! Looking into everything you’ve recommended. I’m super uneducated about products so thank you for pushing me in the right direction! I also never would of thought of fish oil tablets! Will definitely give them a go 🙂 Thank you so so much!

I used to bleach my hair way too much and it kept snapping off and wouldn’t grow no matter what. I’ve stopped bleaching it and try to stay away from the straightener/ always use a heat protection spray and have stuck to good quality products which has finally made a difference. I love de lorenzo and muk products, the blue muk and red delorenzo shampoo and conditioners are amazing for restoring moisture (sorry can’t think of their names right now). De lorenzo “the ends” and the same lines treatment are both really good for helping with breakage.

I tried all different hair growth supplements the only one that really made a huge difference in the growth and thickness of my hair was hairfinity but they make me breakout so i stopped taking them 🙁 (they might work for you though i have acne prone skin and anything can trigger it) the only problem is they are shipped from america and aren’t too cheap so might not be worth the risk but have a look on google about it 🙂

I bought a silk pillowcase too which i think has helped. Find a good hairbrush that doesn’t snap off the ends and just detangles. Tangle teezer or the other brands of the same type are really good. Try to avoid updos/ponytails and plait your hair if you need to wear it up.

The only other suggestion is just to stop dying it altogether and give your hair a break from the chemicals or find a good hairdresser who can colour it with a less damaging dye and do a treatment or use olaplex.

Hope that helps a bit and hope your hair improves with time 🙂

I’ve bleached my dark hair and it took ages to get it back to its current state. Have you tried oil treatments to keep things soft? Fish oil tablets are great for giving your hair strength and shine too.

I bleached my hair about 18 months ago and it’s still recovering! Redken products worked for me, lots of protein/keratin treatments too. Hope it gets better for you.
