Looking for members who box dye their hair at home and are looking for a change..

Hi beauties,

Just putting some feelers out for those members who currently colour their hair at home on a regular basis and are wanting to go lighter or strip back some of the layered colour.. i.e. you have box dyed your hair black, but are wanting to go lighter or back to your more natural colour.

Please let me know below 🙂

I cant justify going to the hairdressers. I am qualified and do my own as i find some salons prices outrages. I stopped bleaching my hair years ago but now i am going back to dying my hair because i am starting to go white as i age.

I pretty much have always coloured my hair at home. Haven’t done it for about a year now (wanted to see what my natural colour is these days-been so long!). Was just contemplating going lighter again though. What can I say,I’m an addict for hair changes. Can’t believe I lasted this long actually before getting bored haha

Nothing here. I have tried a colour remover though. Many years ago….cant even remember what brand it was.

Nothing in my inbox at the moment, the home bleaching/lightening kit sounds interesting, will be following with interest

    Check your emails.

EDIT. This seems to be for a colour remover not a hair dye

Yes that’s me. I haven’t had a hairdresser dye my hair in years because it is so easy to do it yourself and more cost effective.

Just reading the comments and oh my, what an experience melanie-suzette had, both with her hair and her wallet! Many years ago I went to a salon to have my lovely light blonde hair coloured – yes to blonde! Why? just because everyone else was getting their hair coloured. Now in hindsight the ‘hairdresser’ should not have done anything as my hair was perfect then, maybe getting a bit darker underneath, nothing that summer sun could not have fixed. I too ended up with green and gutter grey hair, had to go to another hairdresser and fork out more $$$ to get it fixed, total costing around $300. I also had the same issue going to TAFE where the ‘teacher’ selected the colour combination, again a disaster and this time I had the colour stripped out. Finally I found a good hairdresser and was given the best colour matching my natural colour which was 913. Since then I have been using that in L’Oreal products, mainly to cover grey either the casting or excellence. I haven’t had my hair coloured at a salon for about 20 years now though only really started to cover the grey about 15 years ago.

Sadly it’s all trial an error, Im glad you found a good hairdresser Am!
I have learned to only get trims and not mess with the colour, very thankful for my chocolate brown and very resilient hair

I’ve been box dying my grey+black hair to brown forever… wanted to go grey/silver/charcoal / grey ombre

As for me, I use henna to dye my hair which is a natural coloring powder and mix it with coffee powder, some coconut, castor oil and sometimes an egg I know it sounds gross but it is amazing for my hair.

I’ve been dyeing my hair for a while now by myself. I can’t afford to fork $300 every single time i do my hair
