Home dye jobs

I have been colouring my hair at home on and off for over 25 years. I am naturally fair but was extremely fond of a Garnier Hair colour called I think, Iced Champagne. It was a pale pinky blonde. Anyway my problem started about 4 years ago, EVERY BLONDE HAIR COLOUR, EVEN BLEACH, TURNS MY HAIR A SHIT GOLDY COLOUR. My mothers hair does the same

Oh nothing worse than having your colour get discontinued! Perhaps head to a hair dressing supply shop and get help picking the right toner for hilift. I’ve done this in the past when I could afford to get professional colouring done, with great results x

    Good luck.
    I’m sorry I can’t help.I just hate when a product I love is discontinued.

Hi Beauties, I have a dilemma. I used L’Oreal Sublime Mousse 913 to cover the grey in my blonde hair as I found this the easiest to use at home. Now this product has been discontinued in Australia and I just don’t know what other option similar to this is available. I have tried a variety of permanent hair colours which do give a good end result but to apply these with an applicator or a brush needs an assistant to help to it evenly. The Mousse was great as it is applied then massaged in, hopefully evenly, but I can’t do that with other products. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Your hair has probably gotten darker over the years and this isn’t the right colour for you any more thats why it’s throwing yellow tones. If you look on the box it will have a number on it like (medium blonde) 8.1 (.1 ash) and it’s just can’t lifting enough to stop the gold. It is hard to help with out seeing it but the colour underneath will “lighten up to 4.5 levels. In one easy step, without the need of a pre lightener, your blonde is bright and beautiful.” If it doesn’t work you need to go darker and give up. “Purple shampoo is another option over your old colour. Good luck!

    Hi,

I usually use henna to color my hair. It is naturally colors the hair and conditions the hair too.

The best advice that anyone would be able to give you is to get your hair done at a hairdressers, bleaching at home is really risky and you don’t want to over process your hair which will damage it. I know it costs a lot at the hairdressers but that’s the only way you’ll be able to get rid of the brasiness safely. It could be previous colours you have coloured your hair with not wanting to budge (and box dyes are horrible for it)

But if you are after a toner, the fudge clean blonde shampoo from Priceline may help you, I use it and it keeps my hair a clean blonde and doesn’t dry it out like other toning shampoos 🙂

Hi cpnnatti: I’m not sure about Hi-Lite & activator, so I won’t comment. I use boxed home hair colour.

I use toners, shampoos, mousse, nothing gets the gold out. I havent tried the Hi-lite ( i think that what itz called. ) products. I have seen them at priceline, you buy powder and a activator. (I think) Has anyone tried it?

I used to find my hair had a brassy tone to it no matter the colour used, but switching to a toning shampoo for blondes fixed it! Just don’t leave it in for too long or you’ll end up ashy.
