Hair dyes for dark hair

Looking for a hair dye to maintain my current colour of burgundy but naturally is black. Something cruelty-free and easy to use. I get my highlights done by a professional. I don’t want to use a damaging permanent. Brands suggestions welcomed.

I completely agree that if you have black hair then the permanent hai color is the best option. You will have to put fewer efforts for maintenance.

I had this done last Thursday. Its a bit brighter but looks for an easy dye to maintain it.

kic, thank you for coming back to give a follow-up to your original question. I wish that more people would do this (hint, hint). You look beautiful, you have a great smile and your hair colour turned out well.

Clairol Nice ‘N Easy Permanent Hair Color, 4Bg Dark Burgundy may be just the right choice. I have been using these two for almost one year.

Do you want something to dye and lighten over your dark hair or do you have it lightened and want to maintain the colour? I have purple hair (it’s bleached underneath) and I use Brite Organix to maintain the colour. Their stuff is super pigmented and holds really well! If you hair is a dark brown, you can probably use their red toner over the top to maintain the colour

+10 for Petal’s suggestions. I also tried their natural hair dye and I loved the effect it has on my hair. It did not cause damage or made my hair dry at all.

The following online stores have a range of dyes that might suit you, assuming that you can get the right colour match:

    https://www.nourishedlife.com.au/natural-hair-dye/

    https://www.floraandfauna.com.au/body/hair/natural-hair-dye/

I’m a customer of both stores and their customer service is great.

There’s also a semi permanent henna based burgundy hair colour on tintsofnature which retails for $19.95. I haven’t used this personally but from the look of their website it appears to be what you are looking for. Their hair dye info:

Semi-Permanent Henna Cream is the semi-permanent home hair dye from Tints of Nature made with 95% naturally derived ingredients and enriched with Henna for added shine and conditioning.

Available in 9 rich shades Free from PPD/ PTD, Ammonia and Resorcinol, this Vegan Friendly and Cruelty Free Hair Colour is the perfect way to try a new shade.

Lol I will stop spamming this page now, I hope this has helped and good luck =)

I did a quick google search, apparently garnier has some burgundy shades also specifically for dark hair:
Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Color BR2, “Medium Intense Burgundy,” is the middle of our three Ultra Color Burgundy shades and gives hair a medium, intense burgundy reflect. It is best for anyone with natural hair between medium brown and black.

Scwarzkopf has a range specifically for dark hair, there are quite a few red/ burgundy shades. Unsure if they are cruelty free though.
