My hair very quickly gets greasy, oily and sticky. Any valuable opinions?
Try some dry shampoo. It will eliminate any unwanted grease at the scalp as well as add volume too.
Thanks, Angage. I already use it. I feel it cause falling of my hair more.
I hear ya! I suffer the same. I use dry shampoo on day 2, and it seems to keep me going a little longer. Bastisse gives me the best results
Yeah, mine too. Don't it cause falling of hair?
Wow, can't say I've heard of that before. Might have to do a little research
My hair has been like this for a few years now, if I don't shampoo it every day, it starts to go greasy/oily and drives me nuts, so I shampoo everyday, sometimes dry shampoo does help, Otherwise, I wear it up in a twist and clip. Oh, I have tried a hair masque and that actually gets me a few more days before needing to shampoo/condition.
My Doc said that shampoo it everyday not good. :) :) :)
I have heard a lot about people 'retraining' their hair. It's supposed to be good for oily hair. Perhaps look into that?
AimJJ, I totally agree with this and it worked for me. I used to need to wash it every day and now I only wash it every 3 or so days and it's totally fine. I don't even use dry shampoo in between.
Basically what you do is just push through the grease for a few weeks. Ie, wash your hair only once a week for a month for example, then twice a week, and your hair will gradually stop producing so much oil. It isn't very pleasant at first but it definitely worked for me. There's obviously different variations on that so maybe do some Googling :)
Thanks, Lizabella. I will try it see how it 's work for me
Can I ask is your fine at all and what did you do when you spaced it out for so long style wise?
I have the same issue so I wash every 2nd day cos I don't want to do it every day but I wear my hair up and mess it up with hairspray & use dry shampoo so it doesn't stick flat to my head. I wish I could go wash every 3rd day but don't want to have filthy looking hair if it makes sense?
Hi ThisIsMe :)
I have super fine, super thin hair (think toddler wispy hair!). I can't do much in terms of styling my hair so I have to wear it up on days I don't wash it, and it unfortunately does sit pretty flat to my head, but I sometimes wear those plain black scunci headbands with the teeth to make it look intentional haha. I am lucky that I work from home so don't need to worry much about it though. If you can push through 2 weeks or so of washing once a week, you'll find that you'll easily get away with doing a day 3 wash afterwards!
Thanks! Ohhh I'm gonna do that in the Christmas Holidays that way no-one will see me much! HAHAHAHA
Haha good plan! Good luck!!!
Yes, Aimjj. but it looks like I'm sick
Great idea, I did try it some years ago, but sadly didn't work for me.
After a few days, my hair is an oil slick. I last longer between shampoos when I use TRESemmé Deep Cleansing Shampoo. I don't like the matching conditioner, so I use a different conditioner, but I only apply it to the ends of my hair.
I can eke out an extra day before shampooing if I use dry shampoo. I favour Klorane Dry Shampoo WITH NETTLE - for oily hair.
Good luck, Iranga!
Thanks for the tip...I will have to give the TRESemmé Deep Cleansing Shampoo a try.
I've been using it for decades & my hair never seems to get used to it, I'm constantly rabbiting on about it on the forum.
Love your colourful avatar, Helen!
Yes, definately dry shampoo is a lifesaver. I personally havent experienced more hair fallout from using dry shampoo. I use Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo. Agree with other comments to train your hair to only need washing max twice a week. In winter I was once a week, but summer I'll wash every 4 or 5 days. Dry shampoo on the last day gets me through to a 5th day in summer. One tip that works for me is before shampooing, if my hair is really greasy I will do an apple cider vinegar rinse on my scalp (1:5 ACV/water). I massage a bit of it in, let it sit for 5-10 mins and then rinse the rest through, but focusing on the scalp. It helps to remove excess grease and keeps my hair from getting as greasy in between washes. Goodluck! The temps are starting to rise now, so it's a good thread!
Thanks, Eskimo82. I will try the apple cider vinegar rinse on my scalp. It's a good tip.
No problem, I hope you find something that works for you!!
I'll have to try the ACV & work on training my hair over the holidays. I currently wash my hair everyday if I am planning on leaving the house so I can't imagine being able to go 4-5 days but its worth a try.
Brushing it too much can make the scalp produce more oil too.
I have very large pores and I am always looking for pore fillers/primers. After seeing many recommendations on YouTube I decided to give this a try and I'm not overly excited.
I chose the shade Taupe as it's a great cool toned light brown and matches my natural brows perfectly. It comes in a glass jar, screw top lid and made in Italy.
I am a pale neutral skin tone and find it hard to get a pale bronzer that doesn't have a stark orange, red or pink undertone as I find these just don't work for me.
