Trial Team products

Has anyone had an opportunity to evaluate a perfume/fragrance as part of the Trial Team?

Yes, but really all reviews you could say are subjective. Reviewing a perfume is the same as reviewing any fragranced product though, such as body lotion or roll-on deodorant. In the case of bottled perfume, you’re not just reviewing if you like the scent, you’re reviewing what notes the scent has, the look of the bottle, it’s ease of use/practicality, how long the scent lasts, is it cost effective etc. I think a fragrance would be great as a trial team :).

I personally experience fragrances and perfumes very differently then I do a body lotion or a scented body product. For me I can use almost any scented body product without it impacting me, as the scent isn`t as concentrated, however for a perfume the wrong note in a scent can give me a migraine while it won`t effect anyone else. With a fragrance you are reviewing the scent primarily, while for a body lotion you`re also looking at the way it sits on the skin and if it nourishes etc.

All reviews are subjective, but fragrance simply wears so differently person to person that the gap in experience is wider.

I agree it would make an interesting trial team, but very hard for BH to know which members to invite based on what scents they like and can or can`t wear

I understand where you are coming from Dimmieloves. That`s unfortunate that you experience migraines due to strong perfume scents, that would be horrible. I guess you especially would have to be weary of what kind of perfume you buy.

Yes you are right, in some ways perfumes can be quite subjective then other products. I guess if Beautyheaven did choose to do a perfume trial you would receive an email requesting if you would like to participate. You would then have the opportunity to look at what notes the perfume has and choose to accept the trial team based on if that applies to you.

With reviewing a perfume I would mention if I did or did not like the smell, but as that is quite subjective, I would explain who might like it (someone who prefers more floral scents etc.). Some people who also suffer migraines may benefit from your reviews about perfumes and how you reacted with them.

If you look at the link Petal posted it has many many reviews on perfumes as well as detailed breakdowns of what notes are in the scent.

Hi dimmieloves, perhaps BH could ask us all to update our profile to include scents we are drawn and our skin type.
Some people are guilty of avoiding change and probably should trial different fragrances because they may discover a new scent they like.

Hi Neverland, do you think some people judge perfume by the bottle it`s packaged in just like most people do with wine? I think I am one of those people.
Are there any fragrances currently on the market that suit “”most”” people?

      • 7 yrs, 5 mths ago

I think that can be the case sometimes, I am definitely guilty of that! Designers are going all out with different colours and designs to promote their perfume and project a certain ideal to consumers.

And yes, I think there are definitely popular scents that a large number of people are drawn to. What do you think?

The Classics are certainly popular because some people just don`t like change. Once they find something they like it becomes their Signature fragrance.
Personally I like to mix things up according to my mood and the Season.

Everyone has a unique skin chemistry, so what smells great on one person can smell not so great on another person. If I’m looking for a review on a fragrance, I look at the following website for excellent reviews:

Wow thanks Petal, that is a really good site! It has such a huge database of perfumes with so many detailed (and some very entertaining!) reviews.

There was a fragrance in last months discovery bag. The Mor fragrance mist. It was a light fruity scent. Agree that fragrance is such a personal thing and what someone will absolutely love another will dislike..

Skin fragrance/perfume is a very personalised thing – I don’t feel it is something that could be on a trial team unless we specifically state what fragrance we would gravitate to.

I would never but perfume for someone else unless they told me what they liked or tried a perfume I had and loved it.

    The nose knows!

It would be great to have some fragrances reviewed, there are so many on the market it can be quite overwhelming.

I agree. I think most of us judge a fragrance (like wine) by it bottle and label. It would great to read what other people think.

It would definitely be an interesting trial team, that’s for sure! Fragrance is so personal and wears differently on each person that an accurate review would be very subjective.

Could defiantly be an interesting read

I agree Deeknight because perfumes/fragrances react differently on each person`s skin.

With so many fragrances being released every year, I think it would be good to Trial Team them to give honest feedback.

No I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fragrance as part of a trial team before but I could be mistaken
