Perfumes for sensitive skin

Help ! I love wearing beautiful perfume, but in recent years have had a reaction to them in the form of an itchy red rash wherever it touches my skin. I would love some suggestions as how to avoid this. ( Have tried spraying my clothes, but have found that some fabrics become discoloured. ) Any suggestions please ?

I’ve read in harpers about Skylar’s fragrances. non-toxic, cruelty-free, and hypoallergenic.

I’m allergic to most perfumes, and I finally found a perfect natural perfume “Fog by Henry Rose. This brand create non-toxic scents for sensitive skin.

I’ve been trying perfumes with less synthetic ingredients in recent years. You can sometimes buy sample size “natural” perfumes from online eco-friendly stores. The store that usually has a decent range is Nourished Life, but you can buy them elsewhere. The downside of many “natural” perfumes is that they often do not last long on the skin, so you may need to reapply them throughout the day.

One option is to buy an essential oil blended with a carrier oil such as jojoba. I’ve tried the In Essence jasmine, rose and neroli blended with jojoba oil and they’ve been lovely, but a bit too subtle for my taste. You can also buy “natural” perfumes in a cream base that include ingredients such as shea butter.

Sometimes you can find a brand called LAVANILLA online. They have a roller ball set of sample perfumes:

It is possible that your skin is sensitive to essential oils. If that’s the case, then my suggestions won’t be helpful!

For quite a while I wondered why I had slightly discolored skin on my neck, I thought it might be a natural skin change, then I figured out it was perfume, Duh! I can wear it o.k on my wrists but I don’t wear it often . I’m not big on wearing perfumes so it doesn’t bother me. , I think the alchohol in it can irritate and dry skin out, so I agree a oil based perfume might be a better option.

I usually apply like a balm before a roll-on perfume or spray so there is a barrier. Also helps it last longer.

I think you may need natural perfumes Gwen as I am sensitive to certain scents and its too overwheming . The label must say natural or organic on it , plus look at the ingredients. That includes other beauty products as well.

G’day, Gwenythm: my skin isn’t sensitive, but sometimes I spray my bra if I’m worried about discolouring my blouse. I do it to make the fragrance last longer.

I’ve heard that Beyoncé is allergic to perfumes, so her own range is hypoallergenic. Of course, it might just mean that her range of perfumes doesn’t contain the things she’s sensitive to.
