My Scent Wears Off

I have trouble finding any scent that doesn’t wear off my skin after a few hours. How can I get the scent to stay on ? I don’t want to carry the bottles around with me as I fear damage or theft

I think Eau du Parfums are best for longer-lasting scents

I’m having trouble finding the Manicare atomiser in any shops locally. Can you get one online?

I find spraying perfume in my hair helps it to last longer. And spraying it on my clothes. Not directly, I do the spray and walk through, so it doesn’t stain my clothes

I have recently started applying vaseline before applying my perfume and I must say I really think it works! Definitely worth a try..

I also buy mini perfume sets so that I can take a small bottle with me wherever I go. Many brands offer mini perfume products, and it’s also a great way to sample different fragrances prior to forking out big money.

I also just received an atomiser for Christmas yay! So I will check back in to let you know how it goes 🙂

Some people have very active chemical mantels on their skin (this is a good thing, your skin is healthier) but the bad thing is that your perfumes don’t last as long. Kind of like having oily skin then your makeup coming off after a couple of hours. You can buy solid perfumes – I still love my daughter’s Katy Perry solid locket one, it lasts so long and it’s in a cute kitty shape lol. They travel well and are pretty convenient. There is a brand called Pacifica, they make heaps of types and they are quite cheap on iHerb at the moment ($12.58!) http://au.iherb.com/Pacifica

But other brands and big manufacturers make them too L’Occitane is one that I love and it’s only $16. I have noticed Mecca has some too.

There was a perfume hack on bh a few weeks ago about rubbing Vaseline on your skin first and then spray your favourite perfume onto it to make your scent last longer.

I agree! Spend a little more on better quality perfumes, DJs and Myer have sales at the moment!!

It s wearing off, other people can’t smell it either. There is no way I can afford Eau De Parfum. My dog has a heart condition and her medication cost $107 a month. I think a travel atomiser is the best idea

Oh definitely not saying that you should go out and throw big bucks at spency scents. Way more important things in life than that. Just pointing out that you do get what you pay for. You wouldn`t expect a $2 lipstick from the chemist to last as long on your lips as something higher quality (and sadly higher cost…). Doesn`t mean the cheapie isn`t fun though.

Also that it might be worth keeping your eyes peeled for some Eau De Parfum scents on sale. 🙂 Worth snapping up if you see one you like.

Hope your pup is okay! <3 Sucks to have a furry family member having health issues. The vet bills arent fun either.

I don`t use many my favourites are Shalimar, Joy and Arpege I usually get them from fragrancenet.com which has very good prices. Arpege only comes as Eau De Toilette I`ll see how money is when I`m due for my next top up. I do like the idea of being able to carry a small atomiser with me though 🙂

I agree. It might just be that throughout the day, you have gotten use to the scent and no longer smell it.

Maybe ask a colleague or friend during the day if they can smell your fragrance?

I was told to never bother putting perfume on your wrists. It lasts longer if you put it on the inside of your elbows and on your neck. Not sure if this is true, but I find that my perfume definitely hangs around for longer not on my wrists (but I wash my hands a lot, so probably wash half of it off anyway.)

I also second Princess Perfume’s suggestion. Honestly, Eau de Parfum scents are more expensive, but you need to use less of them so a bottle will last you a lot longer. I find that perfume is also one of those things where you get what you pay for. Buy a cheapie one (a cheapie, rather than a quality one you get on sale. A bargain is still awesome) and it is never going to be as good as something with higher quality ingredients.

You could also consider solid perfumes? I know the Body shop used to do them years ago. They were kind of like a balm that you put on. I guess because it was oil based, it sunk into the skin a bit better? Not sure, but maybe worth investigating.

Oh! and I forgot to mention one more thing.

Are you sure your scent is actually wearing off?
Sometimes I find that I cant smell my perfume anymore, but other people still can. Maybe your nose has just gotten used to your perfume so you can`t smell it as clearly anymore.
