Is it just me or do any of you have this experience where pefumes tend to dull down once u apply them but smell really great on their own?

I found the Sarah Jessica Parker ones are terrible – the scent lasts for less than half an hour and it’s gone. Forget the Scent Cards – when testing new perfumes – spray one perfume on each wrist then walk around outside for at least an hour – then see if you can still smell them.

Though you not being able to smell perfumes may not mean that other people can’t. There is such a thing as “scent fatigue” where you no longer notice a smell because you have gotten used to it. Some people then “top up” their perfume by respraying, and end up totally overwhelming everyone around them. So be careful not to overdo it.

From my experience the beginning of the spray ( I think its the top notes ) gives an initial punch then it dies down to the lingering one which you need to wait for a few minutes to decide how it will smell on you . I get quite dizzy in dept stores where scents are overwhelming so I only try a couple and you need to wait to see if your skin will react properly . Also those scent cards don’t work as it is not accurate on how it will test on you so beware of that too. Probably if no smell , maybe too weak a fragrance for you . EDT/Cologne are the weakest .

Top notes fade quickly. Parfum is the best followed by EDP then EDT which I avoid altogether. Keep in mind that while you may not smell it, others may so ask someone else.

Yeah I have experienced that Erum.z, it’s quite disappointing. The fragrance I experienced that with was the Beyonce Heat Rush EDT. It smelled so lovely from the bottle and lovely on my skin, but about an hour later it was barely detectable. I have had other EDT’s that last a lot longer so I’m not sure if it’s the way this particular fragrance reacts on my skin, or if it’s something to do with the formula. I find in general the celeb perfumes are less long-lasting than the more expensive ones, and EDP’s usually always last longer too.
