Favourite niche perfumes

So I have recently started getting more into fragrances. I have been reading forums and articles as well as watching videos and teaching myself about various notes and what have you.

I have particularly become interested in more niche and indie brands and have tried a few samples I have purchased online. I love the idea of more obscure or less well known or readily available fragrances. Niche brands also focus a lot on fragrances being more unisex and don’t tend to market the fragrances as being just for women or men, which I think is cool.

I am making a trip to the city soon where I will have access to more of these fragrances. We might hit up the department stores which carry niche brands or anywhere close by we might find perfumes. Do any of you have any suggestions for niche fragrances I might want to try or look into. Or even if it is designer or indie and just less well known?

I thought of this forum topic this weekend when I came across an online retailer specialising in niche perfume so I’m going to share this link

    https://lknu.com.au

I spent the vast majority of the weekend looking into the many truly niche brands they stock. I’m talking so niche I’ve not heard of the majority of them, and perfume (niche, designer… All perfume) is my thing.

I like that they do samples, but they are pretty expensive at $10 – $30. I don’t know if they include free samples with orders but I’ll find out once I narrow down my huge wishlist and place an order with them.

I don’t have any niche ones but at the moment I’m wearing Gucci Guilty and Daisy Oh So Fresh!

L’occitane terre de lumiere – not sure if you consider that as “niche” but all the others I would recommend are well known like Chanel

Amouage has some really beautiful fragrances and at $399+ a pop, if you have the opportunity to browse in person, definitely do!

I’ve been umming and ahhing over a Clive Christian trio, which includes No 1 (the world’s most expensive perfume). I’d love to see if the world’s most expensive perfume is like, but at those prices, what if I hate it? Another one on my list to check out if I ever find myself at a big city perfume counter.

I just got my first Diptyque fragrance – Fleur de Peau. I love it! I bought the body cream as well. Smells beautiful! I’ve been eyeing Diptyque for awhile but this was the first one I HAD to have.

Would love to check out more of Le Labo if I had the chance. I’m not overly fond of their unisex type fragrances. I do love the Lys 41, Labdanum 18 and I plan on getting the Iris 39(? – not sure about that number off the top of my head) when spring rolls around.

Histoires de Parfums makes some wonderful scents and Robert Piguet is also great IF you like that sort of thing. I love Fracas, my daughter hates it. There does not appear to be any middle ground with Robert Piguet.

Frapin in another one to try. 1270 is amazing.

A Lab on Fire is another one I’d check out if I had the chance, as well as Tiziana Terenzi.

But also worth exploring even though not quite niche is the harder to find fragrances of designer perfume brands Lancome and Chanel. I recently got Lancome’s 1001 Roses, which I love! I’ve been on the fence with Frederic Malle’s Portrait of a Lady, but I recently ordered 1001 Roses and I LOVE it! It’s similar to POAL but better, I think, and a much better price point. And the Chanel Les Exclusifs range is magic. It’s like niche-meets-designer. My husband got me a sampler set on a recent overseas trip. SO many great fragrances! And I recently got 1957, which I love. IMO, Chanel never gets it wrong and the Les Exclusifs range is stunning.

I’d love to know what you end up trying and liking!

I do have some commercial fragrances, but indie perfumes make up the bulk of my perfume collection. I have only bought online, which can be risky, but thankfully most offer samples.

I began with a love of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, Possets and some others that are no longer operating. I’ve had these perfume oils for years and they have just aged beautifully over time.

A few years ago I stumbled across Love Potion Magical Perfumerie where I first discovered pheromones. I haven’t even bought perfumes from any other brand since because the new releases were often enough that I just wasn’t tempted to go elsewhere. Unfortunately, higher shipping costs and our current un-competitive dollar means I haven’t been able to justify a purchase of late (not that I need more perfumes in my stash).

I have recently been looking on Etsy and there’s a few Aus indie perfume sellers that I’m interested in, but am yet to make a purchase.

Please let me know if you do! I’d love to know which ones you tried and what you think

Will do, angie_robyn. Although, it might be a while, I`m trying to not buy any more perfumes until I`ve gone through my stash to declutter anything I don`t love.

Now, this is why I mentioned you, Indie!

Lol, Mis8, I guess I could be addicted to worse things than perfume (and makeup and skincare and nail polish….)

Is Le Labo considered niche? I finished Rose31 not long ago and really love it. It’s unisex as well.

    • 4 yrs, 9 mths ago

Santal 33 blew up unexpectedly, but I think they were niche before that happened.

Le Labo staff mix up the perfume in their shops, when a customer goes in & orders it. There are a few stores which have a signature fragrance which is only available at that store.

      • 4 yrs, 9 mths ago

I will need to sample Santal33 sometime. You keep raving about it! 🙂

      • 4 yrs, 9 mths ago

You might not thank me, because it`s expensive; but I could DRINK the stuff! Love it!

      • 4 yrs, 9 mths ago

Neither does Rose 31! I haven`t bought any fragrance in the last 18 months, it would be a really nice treat to pick one from Le Labo… Just ONE! 🙂

    • 4 yrs, 9 mths ago

Yes, Le Labo would be considered niche. That sounds lovely I will need to try it. I love rose.

  • 4 yrs, 9 mths ago

I’ve got Santal 33 by Le Labo on my wishlist for if I ever win Lotto.

You need to chat with members IndieAna & Princess Perfume – they’re both big perfume buffs.

Thanks for the shout-out, Mis8. I don`t consider myself an expert on perfume by any means, I guess because it`s so subjective, but I do love me some indie perfumes 🙂

My Favourite Perfume is Estee Lauder Beautiful that is the one that my husband buys me for Birthdays or Christmas Time.

Love to try out New Perfumes on sale at my Pharmacy to see if I like them or not. Different Notes smell different on everyone.
