All your fragrance questions answered

Hi beauties!

Have you ever had a burning fragrance question you wanted answered?

Not sure how a scent reacts to your skin? Confused about how to actually test a perfume? Want to know about how your nose or brain interprets a smell?

Believe me, I know perfume can be tough to wrap your head around, so whatever you’d like to know – we’re going to find out!

I’ll be putting your questions into a fragrance FAQs article, so ask now or forever hold your peace (or nose, depending on your question).

Thanks beauties!

    Hi beauties,

Thanks again for all of your help with this article.

It’s going up on site monday morning, but I just wanted to jump in here to let you know (and say I’m sorry) that I couldn’t fit everyone’s questions in.

I’m thinking I might do another one of these articles where I can answer the ones I didn’t get to in this forum. However, if you’d rather find out the answer to your question ASAP, email me on eloise@beautyheaven.com.au and I’ll do my best to answer it for you.

    Thanks,
    bh’s Ellie xx

This is good timing. I have a health issue and would like to know what brands do you recommend for any organic/natural perfumes/fragrances in the market. I have to be careful what I eat and put on my skin now so any brand recommendations would be great. I know Weleda is one of them so hope there are many more .

    Hi Ellie,

I would like to know what perfumes you would suggest for a person who has hayfever that I won’t sneeze at? The seasons don’t matter to me it’s the actually perfume itself that does with that. I do like the eau de parfume’s the best more so then the toilette one’s I know everyone has different taste with this but can you tell me what note’s I should be going for with that & what I should steer away from that can cause my hayfever to be worse?

I have another question:). You spray, let it settle, think it’s average and forget about it until later in the day take a whiff and love it???? Top notes, middle notes and I must love the bottom notes????

I’ve been doing a lot of online fragrance shopping lately and I’m finding reviews incredibly unhelpful because more than any other product, fragrance is wide open to interpretation. After reading through many conflicting reviews about fragrance from, “It’s BEST perfume I’ve ever worn!”, to “It smells like urine.”, I’ve ditched the customer reviews and just started scanning through the fragrance description looking for notes I like. So far I haven’t been disappointed with my selections, but it’s a guessing game.

My question is… When you’re a perfume-aholic buying fragrance online because you’re too far away to go try them in person, what are the keys to success?

I take an antihistamine daily for hay fever and after a couple of weeks I can wear something stronger because it doesn’t irritate me anymore. Just one of the perks I guess :D:D

So we all know that body can react to perfumes right? I want to know how basically, is it the heat/ hormones or just bacteria on our skin that makes the scent change
